shouldn't "sig spot" be equivalent to spam?

i mean think about it, the person posts "sig spot" in a thread that they believe to draw a lot of attention right? well what are they contributing to the subject of the thread? nothing. i mean i really don't care that much, i'm just bored, but c'mon...at least say something that relates to the topic at hand...

Spunky 07-16-2006 09:51 PM

There was a time people actually were banned for saying that

i'm surprised you didn't reply first with "sig spot" lol...

(not implying that you always do that spunky, i just figured the first reply would be "sig spot" heh...)

Interesting point. So instead of just saying "see sig" or "sig spot", the poster should contribute some "content"? Content being defined as a post that has SOMETHING to do with the initial thread or contribution to the discussion.

Great thread!

Bring that bannage back, I say. This is getting out of hand. :2 cents:

KrisKross 07-16-2006 09:59 PM

Yeah, back in the day, pimpdogg was banned a few times for saying "see sig".

sicone 07-16-2006 10:00 PM

Should depend on what the sig is... my sig for example is always called for

stickyfingerz 07-16-2006 10:00 PM

See sig!!!! :thumbsup :helpme :error :Oh crap

This discussion does raise a common issue when dropping links to generate traffic. Is the promotion "parasitic" in nature or does it add value to the host? No different from many marketing techniques out there... do you just drop a link in the middle of people talking or building friend networks? or do you add materials that HELP the conversation or a tool that the friends can use, a funny video link or picture link that can stimulate the discussion?

As I've mentioned in a previous post, there's a VERY SMALL difference between CONTENT and SPAM. That small difference can be easily achieved through just a TAD OF EFFORT.

I was thinking that too, but then a more important thought crossed my mind.. does anyone really care?

Spunky 07-16-2006 10:04 PM

They should lose their sig for a week if it's a constant occurrence, everybody posts generic replies but unless the phrase is banned,it will never change

StickyGreen 07-16-2006 10:07 PM

hey sicone, how come you aren't blue anymore but you got an adult.com email?

bvds 07-16-2006 10:07 PM

I think it is lame

Jarmusch 07-16-2006 10:07 PM

The sad part is when someone says "see sig" no one actually clicks on it.

scottybuzz 07-16-2006 10:07 PM

if they had to give a view, they would distort the thread with their moronic views. and drift the real convo away. At least with sigspot you can learn to ignore it. 0.03

I will never get it, and to be honest, I actually go out of my way NOT to click the liinks of people that commonly say that
basically, if you some into a thread and say sig spot, ANYTHING you advertise in the future is banned from my mouse clicks

sharp 07-17-2006 12:30 AM

what about "Just whorin' through."

Jarmusch 07-17-2006 12:55 PM

It seems my style of modding was to Nazi'ish or something like that. It may have to do with me never picking lunch up for Texas Dreams.

I don't know, maybe someday I'll have a blue name again.
