My current host blows nuts, and I want to switch hosts. I've got top rankings with the site hosted with them and I'm worried that if I change IP's google will drop my shit.

Has anyone noticed if google penalizes for changing IP's? I'd like tokeep my rankings :)

Shouldn't hurt you to bad unless...

a. You move from a previously clean dedicated ip, to a known spam shared ip
b. an ip recently being used by someone banned by the SEs.

If your moving from a shared to a clean dedicated, you could even see a boost.

I'm happy with the design so that won't be changing any time soon. But the host.....been down for going on 11 hours now...

rarely a drive should cause an 11 hour downtime, unless it is a special, magical drive that you did not have any backup on

well, it's back up now, and there's no data loss so thats good. Now time to look for a new host

This shouldnt be a problem as google operated using Domain names rather than IP's, as mentioned above you will ONLY have problems if you put your site on a IP which is considered a bad neighbour hood.

Dont change your design if you have a design google likes keep it!

ip address is only a very minor part of Googles anti spam stuff.

Site5 is the host....and apparently now they don't allow adult....so my site is down AGAIN....

I remember them telling both of us they allowed adult, go figure. Their BS is why I'm no longer hosting with them.
