Can u get HIV from blowjobs?

I must not seem like it judging from all the BJ scenes I see! They wear a condom for intercourse but not for bj.

notabook 07-16-2006 10:04 AM

Yes, you can get HIV from oral sex.

less then 1% of 1% of a chance. one documented case ever.

so yes you're right...but I think you are a little misinformed.

Well tests have to have been done within I think 2 weeks of a shoot. The risk is much much less with a bj, but not impossible no. I think sometimes the condoms are more to help ensure birthcontrol anymore. Even if the girl is on the pill there is a risk of pregnancy. :2 cents:

NoWhErE 07-16-2006 10:06 AM

If the man has a cut on his dick or if she has a wound in her mouth, chances are very high of contraction due to contact with blood.

there would have to be a ton of blood and a pretty big wound on his cock. these would have to be two very stupid people.

minusonebit 07-16-2006 10:13 AM

Anything is possible. Its not very likely from what I know...

stats aren't really to be trusted in the case of oral sex and i wouldnt rely on them too much. if you have sex with someone and got aids how would you know if it was the oral part or the intercourse that caused it because they usually follow one another

Khun 07-16-2006 10:13 AM

The short answer is yes.

They wear condoms because HIV can take as long as much as 6 months (more likely 3) to show up in your system and alot of the talent aren't willing to take risks.

your chances of contracting HIV is about 1 in 2000 if you are to have regular unprotected vaginal intercourse with a partner of the opposite sex.

blazi 07-16-2006 10:18 AM

I would imagine it's possible!

Of course it is possible - it is also possible I will get hit by a bus when I go to the shop later.

I will still go to the shop - I just wont step in front of a bus.

Young 07-16-2006 10:19 AM

obviously no one wants to take that 1 in 2000 chance and you should always be tested and use protection but it truly amazes me as to how uneducated some of the people on GFY...

next thing i'm going to hear I think is that HIV is for gay people only haha

There have been no real financed in-depth studies as there has been for vaginal or anal intercourse. Considering that most who engage in oral sex also actively engage in other types of intercourse as well, it becomes even harder to gauge the true risk of unprotective oral sex. Thusly with no real scientific data, and with it being nearly impossible to gauge the true transfer rate of JUST oral sex, the best estimate at the moment is you have around a 0.04 percent chance of contracting HIV from oral sex per contact, or about 4% per 100 HIV-infected incidents. :thumbsup

Young 07-16-2006 10:21 AM

wouldn't that be 4 in every 1,000....

and how many people that have HIV really know they have HIV? out of all the reported cases, what percent does this account for the total people with HIV? that is the question

Hey man, it's your life, do with it what you will. The risk is there and the true risks have not been evaluated. If you would have bothered to read what I wrote, there has been very LITTLE research on the matter because of how hard it is to evaluate JUST oral sex because those who engage in oral sex ALSO engage in vaginal and anal intercourse as well. Because of this, the rate may be MUCH HIGHER than their ESTIMATE, i.e. 'we're fucking guessing because we don't know'.

Why have I started sounding like a 500 year old chinese person? Very strange.

L-Pink 07-16-2006 10:26 AM

Keep this in mind!

Brushing teeth before sex greatly increases the chance of spreading disease.

Bleeding gums, raw skin in the mouth ...... :2 cents:

I've had vaginal sex with over 200 women in my 25 years of life...never have paid for it. I always wrap it up and get tested every year at my physicals.

I'll tell you one thing...I've never gotten a blow job from a chic wearing a condom.

The rest of you keep your dicks in your pants out of fear.

And you think that many women is something to be proud of? There is something to be said about quality over quantity :thumbsup What's the average life average of sexual partners in America, 7.5-10? Way to go kid, you?re way above the norm! When you get HIV and develop AIDS, let us know ok? We'll have a huge party on your behalf, you stud muffin you :1orglaugh

This statement really kills me.....you sound like you're only sexual experience has come from watching porn.

LMAO@ "because they usually follow one another (oral, intercourse)"

No. I've had a healthy sex life. And I'm clean.

Chances of getting HIV from a blow job still stands at zero. Nothing has changed.

So this means that you will continue sucking cocks?

Young 07-16-2006 10:46 AM

To finish.

The only evidence we have to go by on this issue is stats. If you would read my three links I posted you would see the Stats say it is impossible.

For everyone that has concern for my physical well being...Thank You. I just finished battling a case of "Pussyitis" (3 different vaginas in 24 hours) so I'm going to take a 1 or 2 day break to rest up a little and recover.

Also I would like to note the irony of sexual experience advice from a bunch of over weight webmasters whose experience ends when they hit the little X on the top right of their computer screen.

:) have a nice day fellas

Would you like to explain that to my friend Steven's family? He died because he believed that as well.

He refused to 'take it up the ass' - he said it sounded way too much like pain to be pleasure.

Sucked cock like a vacum cleaner though :pimp

i think there is a small chance you could get it from blowjobs but not highly.. as someone mentioned u might need to have a cut on your dick.. but be safe and stay protected always...

lots of half-truths and misinformation in this thread.

lots of extenuating factors which can skew the chances.

1. which partner is doing the sucking. receptive oral sex is riskier than insertive oral sex.

2. recent dental work, bleeding gums, drinking or use of solutions that alter saliva's natural disease fighting ability (saliva is acidic and changing the ph will alter this natural defense)

3. ejaculation into receptive mouth will increase risk to receptive partner.

4. it is true the risk from HIV from insertive oral sex is VERY, VERY low, but due to above variables still possible.

5. there is a much greater risk of other diseases from unprotected oral sex, notably: chlamydia, gonorrhea, non specific urethritis.

moral of the story, find someone you love and stay only with that person long term.
