Juventus, Lazio and Forientina have all be demoted to the lower league

and Ac Milan are now 15 points deducted and out of champions league

which is good things for the transfer market.

Tdog 07-15-2006 03:48 PM

Can you translate this for the USA people, thanks

Michael O 07-15-2006 04:38 PM

And Juve is starting in the 2nd division with -30 points.
:D

BoyAlley 07-15-2006 04:39 PM

they tried to pay to fix the results of games. As a punishment the teams have been forced to drop to lower league. That sort of system doesn't really exist in American sport so the best comparison I can say would be if a team like the Mets was forced to move totally to the minors.

And start the season 15-30 games behind #1

And they can't play in the European Cup so thats a loss of $15-20 million+ for each club aswell for atleast 2 seasons.

Sarah_Jayne 07-15-2006 04:49 PM

also it would mean that suddenly all the players from the Mets (or whoever) would be looking for new teams because they aren't going to want to play for a team in the minors. So, the market for teams to sign new players would be flooded.

It is really hard to explain promotion and relegation to American sports fans. Personally, I think it makes things a lot more exciting.

Yeah its good drama :p
We had the league winners relegated the following year a couple of years back :D

Its the way sports are build in America, sport leagues are for entertainment where as in Europe its a old tradition of kids and youths starting out by playing for clubs instead of in school.
In soccer every team can be promoted to play in the best league, with enough money and time they can move up from the 14th division or where ever they start.

Drake 07-15-2006 05:07 PM

Sounds corrupt

DamageX 07-15-2006 05:15 PM

So the Scudetto goes to either Roma or Inter this season.

scottybuzz 07-15-2006 06:01 PM

not a chance the scudetto will flock to the outer europe

E$_manager 07-15-2006 06:20 PM

Aside from the bad spelling, is that question rhetorical?

scottybuzz 07-15-2006 07:26 PM

I love it how when people complain about spelling, their grammar and spelling is checked 10x over; from their usual posts.

Laugh Out Loud.

E$_manager 07-15-2006 07:37 PM

i heard that the results were to be reviewed. That was 2 days ago.

scottybuzz 07-15-2006 07:41 PM

oh yeh, fair point christie, i doubt things will change, italy will be champions for the next 4 years

scottybuzz 07-15-2006 07:42 PM

but i may be wrong.

I have been wrong on most of my predictions this world cup

E$_manager 07-15-2006 07:52 PM

i never doubted nothing will change.

sickkittens 07-16-2006 07:31 AM

fantabulous 07-16-2006 07:36 AM

They did their best :winkwink:

FetishTom 07-16-2006 09:52 AM

Confused - ok more surprised really but do not major American sports have promotion and relegation built into the league system (or whatever it is called)?

And if not what exactly do they play for?

Also if not why are American sports so out of kilter with the rest of the world?

Enlighten me please

Sarah_Jayne 07-16-2006 10:03 AM

they play to win..for being the best in that league

a league which almost certainly brings great shame.

football is no longer a sport its a business and with juventus in this league, they have to sell their best players just to keep afloat. business's around juventus will now start falling like flies.

Trust me playing in a lower league for a club like this is fitting punishment from a sports council.

there will also be a legal court where the evidence will be looked over alot more and the possibilites of jail shall arise for those individuals who cheated the most.

Im glad they did something this time.

gecko 07-17-2006 10:57 PM

Serves them right

UtahSaints 07-18-2006 12:18 AM

Lazzio if fucked. Piss broke already and now this.. Juventus will be back but other two won't for a while

Vitasoy 07-18-2006 02:29 AM

Jusr making examples of

xcitecash 07-18-2006 02:31 AM

the funniest thing is out of the four teams found guilty... the one that escaped relegation is owned by the former Italin prime minister Berlusconi

scottybuzz 07-18-2006 02:37 PM

hahahahaha irony or what. i would have thought everything would have dropped through knowing the italians.

but they are doing well, first the capture of the notorious mafia boss and then the demotion of 3 major football clubs.

Well, it is okay not to like a sport but it is annoying when you then follow those that do like it around and tell them every time they talk about it that you don't like it.

scottybuzz 07-19-2006 08:18 AM

I watched USA soccer last night, no wonder they hate soccer, the style was so boring

scottybuzz 07-26-2006 05:31 AM
