Sprint Wireless Aircard....Internet Anywhere!
Greatest invention ever :thumbsup
I was a bit hesitant to get one, but after using it for a month now I don't think I could go without it :thumbsup went with the 580 http://www.sprint.com/business/produ...ards_data.html |
what's the monthly fee for that?
|
Any particular reason why you went with the 580? I'm very interested in getting one myself..
|
I've been thinking of getting one as well
|
Decent speed? I have been waiting and waiting for more speed

I got one and it was horrible. I had to take it back. I spent 2-3 hours with tech support and they were not a help. The software that was packaged with the card was not up to date. To get online you had to have a broadband connection so that you can update all the software before trying to use the card. Maybe its just my area or maybe bad luck but I was not able to get online with the dang thing.

We have this in Asia. What's your upload speed?
|
Of course the fucking website ignores upload speed. Anyone have an idea of the speed in the broadband areas?
|
I have been seeing this sprint mobil broadband on TV and had been wanting to try it, I have the card by verizon and the upload/download sucks big time... dont look like the sprint one is much better tho
|
I just called sprint and they said that the upload speed never gets over 56k even in the broadband areas.
|
I just use my PPC 6700 and a USB cable to my laptop with sprints normal vision. I get 230Kbps.
It's free. No extra charge. |
friend of me got it, she uses it every day and says its amazing, 50 bucks monthly and another 50 to purchase, which is a great deal actually since those cards for Tmobile here are still like 300 :/
|
ive been thinking about getting a verizon one
|
I got the sprint global wireless card for my laptop before I moved to puerto rico...The shit is nothing more than a glorified DIALUP connection...The best place to get a connection is at an airport and even though it SEEMS to be somewhat fast when you're browsing, don't even think about trying to upload large files cause it can't be done...
I'm paying over 90 a month for unlimited and I'm about to renegotiate this shit since I now have cable here... Unless you have no other option, DO NOT even bother with sprint. |

They are pretty much a glorified dial-up, but it's 10x faster than what I had and beats driving into town everyday and wondering who is checking out my screen :winkwink: As for uploading large files, I'll upload 200MB+/- a day, which was impossible with the dial-up. You get 15 days to return it with no charges, more than enough time to take it to your favorite spots and test it. If it doesn't work, take it back :) But I would only recommend it if you're on dial-up or traveling. |

The card uses EV-DO where available (in major urban areas) and CDMA everywhere else. EV-DO's average speed is around 400-700 kilobits per second downstream. It can top out at 2.4 mbps, but you'd have to be sitting on the tower to get those speeds. In terms of upload speeds, the fastest you'll see is about 90 kbps. CDMA speeds are pretty similar to dial-up. Top speed is 56 kbps, but you won't see higher than 44 kbps, which is 5.5 KB/s. The upstream speed on CDMA isn't even worth talking about. |

Ive owned most of them and sprint is the slowest for sure.

And 12-15 KB/s is pretty decent for most things. Obviously you're not watching streaming video or uploading movie galleries at that rate. But for checking stats, email, dealing with affiliates, etc, it's a decent speed. And disabling graphics helps even more. |
12-15kbs upload? Way faster than Satellite. I get 2kbs upload. :( :( :Oh crap
My cell signal is terrible as well, so I'm stuck unless I move. |

You're gonna find out the hard way...Sprint is NOT an alternative to having internet access unless all you want to do is surf GFY and check email...anything else is useless. |
Fuck those cards, just buy a EVDO phone and use it with the USB cable... does the same thing and no need to buy an extra device.
