Al-Hayat. "Israel gives Syria 72 hour ultimatum"

Just a rumor or the real deal?

Report: Israel gives Syria ultimatum

London-based Arabic language newspaper Al-Hayat says Israel gave Syria 72 hours to stop Hizbullah?s activity, bring about release of kidnapped IDF troops. ?Israel will not end military activity until new situation created that will prevent Syria, Iran from using terror organizations to threaten its security,? newspaper quotes Pentagon official as saying
Roee Nahmias

The London-based Arabic language newspaper Al-Hayat reported Saturday that ?Washington has information according to which Israel gave Damascus 72 hours to stop Hizbullah?s activity along the Lebanon-Israel border and bring about the release the two kidnapped IDF soldiers or it would launch an offensive with disastrous consequences.

Im not sure - Israel havnt exactly been holding back - why not be upfront about this as well?

The rhetoric is swinging away from Lebanon to Iran and Syria though - Im looking at flights to NZ just in case.

ADL Colin 07-15-2006 05:56 AM

And the Pentagon is considering "evacuating" Americans in Lebanon. Historically, that has been Pentagon-speak for getting boots on the ground (Grenada).

Lieberman: Damascus must realize it will pay price

Israel Our Home Chairman Avigdor Lieberman told Ynet,

If we will have to act against (Syrian President Bashar) Assad we will, without aerial acrobatics.

Damascus must understand that it will pay the ultimate price,hahaha8221; he said. (Aviram Zino)

Is anyone ever right or wrong in politics? There are just winners and losers.

Kimo 07-15-2006 07:03 AM

lets just drop a bunch of laptops and hook them up with a broadband satelite, would probably be cheaper and more effective then bombs

make it stop....

slavdogg 07-16-2006 03:31 AM

this is gonna be a long and bloody fight
mark my words

Previous Israeli governments were led by experienced Military war trained leaders (Rabin, Barak, Sharon) that knew first hand the destructive nature of a military conflict. They all tried to make peace and spare its younger generations of wars and military conflicts.

Current leadership in Israel has none of that. They'll be more ruthless in a need to prove themselves and will not spare much to achieve Israel's goals.

Can someone tell me what is a valid reason for striking Lebanon's Power stations and fuel depots ?

I can understand all the other targets and they all have a good reason, but why power stations ??

I guess they took out the power stations in those areas where there are good targets.

When/If they attack communication (TV/Radio/Tele), then the invasion will begin.

The U.S. needs to keep their mouth shut, and out of this. Let the Isreali's handle it. If the U.S. gets in on this with the Isreali's, then you can expect all hell to break loose.
