Macs are like whores: You can doll them up all you want, but most of them are still going to full of bugs.

I can't say that i like MACs - the are actually harder to use than PCs - granted I've spent more time on PCs and know how to fix just about anything that comes up

I'm actually considering buying a PowerBook Pro so i can run MAC OS and Windows together - i've been getting more and more files for MAC and their programs - price is a little higher but I think it's the right move

I just hope it doesn't change me and make me want to convert ALL my computers over to MAC

I've spoken with lots of network/IT/programmers type guys about 'macs' the general consensus is that macs are a pain in the ass . . one programmer told the mac 'seems' more stable because she used the PC for all the heavy lifting and used the mac for emails and stuff . . the positive things about macs to me is that they build the software and box . . so all the parts will run smoothly together however with the machine built and test by big pc houses like Sony, dell, gateway, etc the issues are resolved by their techs . . I would never build a box from parts anymore like the old days when ya had too so the damn thing would have quality inside . . .

MyNameIsNobody 07-16-2006 08:09 AM

I would've bought a mac if they weren't so expensive.. then I'd install windows on it! yeah! ^^

gleem 07-16-2006 08:22 AM

Macs are better, always have been, always will be. I have both, always have had the best of each, and the MAC ALWAYS GETS MORE USE. I've never even installed a virus program on any mac I've owned since 96, and I don't think adware/spyware software even exists for mac (not needed).

They are both just tools of a trade, but mac is definately more fun to use!

why would a virus hacker waste time writing for 4% of the machines?

justinsain 07-16-2006 08:58 AM

Be happy that you have a choice. Decide what you want to do and pick the machine that will work best for you. Simple as that. I started with a PC and then switched to Mac. I recently bought a PC just to be able to do a few things I couldn't do with the Mac but if I could only have one, with hesitation, I'd keep the Mac.

Kimo 07-16-2006 09:05 AM

i prefer pcs, but i dont hate macs

CamsLord 07-16-2006 09:05 AM

since Mac now supports Windows based programs, i may consider switching

because quite simply, mac owners have bigger penises than pc owners. that's what it comes down to, right? the size of your penis?

well, there, i said it. mine is bigger than yours. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

That's because if you take off your blinders the adware and spyware are built into the mac

i can't tell you how many mac owners tell me they have to use their .mac account for ftp, email, everything

aside from multimedia editing I haven't seen a mac excel in anything except blending in at star-schmucks.

talk to ya later, gonna go to star-schmucks

the people you are talking to are idiots. most people do 'everything' without any .mac bullshit. .mac is like aol, at least in terms of internet savvy.

Not to mention last time I checked a .mac account was something like $60 year.

I can do all that and more with no problems at all. I didn't even bother with the .mac account.

I did pay for Procare with is probably the best $100 computer accessory I've ever purchased.

Mac invented the mouse, as well as other things.

If it wasn't for mac, you would still be running dos too. I can't wait for vista to catch up to what mac is doing now. By the time vista is out, macs software will be on to new things. Always playing catch up on the pc trying to emulate the mac system.

:1orglaugh this cracked me up, truly! :) :thumbsup

now i'm going to give you my :2 cents: on this whole mac user v. pc user thing...

first, i think apple has done some brilliant marketing and branding starting with their g3 towers (i think it was) when they changed the design and and started making everything sexy, sleek, and the same. SO much so, that i think mac users have been somewhat brainwashed into that whole pointing out they use a mac thing. i'm guilty myself, i have two powerbooks and i could i'd probably hump them i think they're so hot.

but i also point out that i'm using a mac in some way in convos with other people about computer issues because i find if i don't people assume pc and try to give me advice on something irrelevant.

i also love my macs for their UNIX backend. they never crash either. i don't lose data. i like that for whatever reason i don't end up with virus issues.

and i think being comfy with the mac interface v. the windows gui is just a matter of what you started with and stuck with. i used macs first, then pc, then fbsd, stablebsd, then back to mac when they got sexy again. right now i'm more comfortable with the mac interface because i've been on it for a few years again.

...i *will* say that i use the term "underwear" instead of "panties" and it seems to make men uncomfortable. perhaps they think i'm a shemale? :winkwink: discuss! :upsidedow

Why do people give apple so much credit..? Apple did just as much stealing as Microsoft did, Microsoft just did a better job at it lmao.

this is true, i worked for Xerox, i'll verify. Xerox owned the PARC research facility and sold their patents for the GUI and the mouse to Apple. dumbasses. :1orglaugh

Actually thats not true either.
Douglas Engelbart recieved a patent 1970 for his wooden mouse.

True, Apple was first to bring it to the masses with the Macintosh in 1986

As far as Microsoft goes...
Have they ever had an original idea?

I'll agree with you and candyflip - PC has it's idiot users too, but even here in Hollywood people look at my with big doe eyes when i say that a $10 hosting account will give them everything they get from .mac under a brandable domain name.

Plus, i've seen the render times on these MACs for video and it's sad that it's so slow. If i was running a dual or quad processor with 4-8 gigs of ram on a windows64 box the render times would be equally as good if not better.

I do have to say that MAC has a nice list of supporting equipment like Final Cut and Pro Tools, and please don't get me going on Avid for the PC (or MAC).

I think it says a lot that MAC is using an Intel chip now and can dual boot to windows or MAC. And I'm not saying that I would never buy a MAC, in fact i'm looking to buy the PowerBook Pro with an Intel core, but I lement over the thought of falling in love with the thing.

didn't XEROX fire the guys who made the mouse? the execs could believe that anyone would want to use a device called a mouse?

Microsoft took the same road that JVC took with the VHS. Licensing will make you more than you can make on your own. If Apple continued to let the MAC be licensed like the early models we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I agree, just like Sony and the Beta. Although the Beta was better in the begining, it didn't have the play time that the VHS had or the compadibility. But it was only superior for a few years until the VHS was updated. Marketing is key.

I also do this to a degree. I'll add a few keys like a plesk box, or a cpanel box or a CentOS box, so people understand what you are talking about.
