its true i just keep forgetting to change it . only german people will see it i assume ( i have never seen it )

basically what my sig does is uses geo-ip to determine your country then it searches google images for "yourcountry flag" and shows a random result from the top flags on google images. Im sorry if it offends anyone im trying to find the flag so i can edit it out of the lineup , as someone pointed out the nazi symbol is actually a copy of a symbol used in all sorts of society's and ways including the word PEACE, so while i do understand its a touchy subject that could feel offensive i certainly didnt intend it that way . and will remove it shortly.

The swastika has always meant peace my brother. It cannot be helped what the Nazis did with the symbol. It?s no different than when the KKK burns the Christian cross on minority?s yards ? the mass majority of people still see the cross as a symbol of peace. Why should we look upon the swastika any differently?

The nazi swastika is a reversed symbol. The original symbol is an ikon for Peace as well as the sun..

They really need to fix up the Geo IP results from my area. They always seem to list these little hole in the wall places in the county instead of the cities. For instance, for me it says Cottam. Cottam is a hamlet, doesn't even qualify as a town, the population of Cottam is 300. It is one of those "blink and you will miss it" places way out in the boonies.

I don't get the "a swaztika isn't necessarily bad" comments at all.

Who cares if the symbol or variations of it have been around for thousands of years? Were any of you around pre Nazi days and remember when it was used as a symbol for peace or whatever? The symbol especially associated with Germany has had for the last sixty plus years, no positive connotations for most of the world's Western Internet population who would be likely to see it.

Might as well name your kid after a serial killer or live in Louisiana and name your kid Katrina because those names were fine before. :error

So just because a hate group takes something that is cherished by hundreds of millions, turns it into a complete farce and a symbol of utter hatred? you should just say fuck it and let them get away with it? What about the Christian cross and the KKK using it in their rallies? What about them burning them on minority?s yards? Should we just throw away the Christian cross, let the KKK and groups like them have their way? Or should we more logically continue to use the symbol(s) as we always have, thus not giving into the racist?s fear-mongering tactics? the part your missing is it wasnt "especially associated" with nazi's , your right for a few years they used it to spread hate , but people have used it for THOUSANDS of years to promote PEACE. so what your saying is any group that takes a peacefull symbol and turns it into hatred we should never use that symbol again.. ?

You think there are no positive connotations with wetsren nations because you havent done any research . infact it has been used in north america for many different organizations including the "boy scouts".

I wouldnt post it in my sig because i think that more people would associate it in germany ( where th sig shows up ) with hatred than in north america where many many people realise it means PEACE

Yes most North Americans are well versed in Hindu symbolism. Ask 1000 Americans what the symbol means and if you get even one who says something like:

"Of course, that's a symbol for peace, oh there was that Nazi thing but yeah it's a universally accepted symbol of peace and good will to all men" I would be very surprised.
