What are you being paid for photoshoots?
 

Just out of curiousity....

to make content what does it cost start to finish?

say you have 2 photographers, one for video (HD) and one for still photos with a digital camera.

Say they are quality models for an exclusive site, sometimes solo, sometimes couple fucking/sucking etc.



I am just trying to get a ball-park of an average costs per shoot for amatuer good looking models. Does a model get paid 100 to 300 an hour for shoots?




I understand there are differnet circumstances, but give me ball-park ideas... would appreciate it.

Those are some pretty general questions and IMO there isn't a definitive answer.

1st: Are the photographers your friends or professionals? If they are your friends some beer might cover there needs. If you're looking at hire professional photographers, are they providing their own equipment or are you providing the lights, and cameras both still and video? Professional photographers command prices based on their past work or the success of said works. Some photographers might not show up for less then $1,000, other $2,500 and still others with really inflated egos charge $10,000 or more per day. There is of course the chance that you could get quality work out of a student from a local college for next to nothing.

2nd: The better the quality of the model the more you are going to pay. Going out the the local bar and grabbing the first good looking thing that walks by your table is going to cost you a whole lot less then a girl under contract for Vivid if she'd do it at all. Amateur models who have not done a lot of work or who are new to the business are going to be cheaper than those who have management companies or those managing their own carriers but have done work for major companies or magazine work. I can tell you that your odds get better towards the end of any given month because every girl out there has bills due, the car, the rent, her cell phone and on and on... Most girls regardless of there reps are more open to doing legitimate work as the end of the month gets closer.

Girls out of LA, Florida, New York are going to cost you more than some girl out of a small town in the mid-west all of whom are being requested to do the same work, that's just a fact of life.

3rd: Again a models pay is dependent on two things the time of the month and the amount of work she has done or her perceived fan base. A model who has appeared in Hustler or Penthouse is going to be more expensive then a newbie trying to break into the business.

But to give you some kind of ball park $2,000 to $4,000 would be an average bill for a day (8-hrs) with a quality model and two quality photographers plus a makeup/hair artist, you also have to consider the location. If you're not shooting in your own home or a friends you have to consider that you're going to be paying for the privilege of shooting in someone else's.

Some other things to ask yourself do you need the makeup artist for the entire day? You can save some money if you can cut them lose after the 1st or 2nd look (look meaning changing of the hair style and makeup) Can you do with just one photographer? Do you need a make up artist at all. Will you be happy if the model does her own hair and make up? Some of them can do a very nice job others, well do yourself a favor and find a makeup artist, perhaps someone going to school, they tend to work cheap. You can cut your shoot budget in half by using only one photographer. Most of the time he is going to be either shooting video or stills not both and you're not going to want strobes going off in your video footage so shooting both while the scene is taking place is not a good idea.

Check with a local agency for girls if you're uncomfortable approaching girls in public. It will cost you a bit more because there will be an agent fee but in most cases you'll get a better shoot out of a girl who is being represented. Plus if she flakes the agency will bend over backwards to see that a model shows up to your shoot. There is nothing worse then having a crew of people sitting around waiting for a model to show up. The agencies make their money off booking the girls and when the girls don't show up the girl quickly finds that she will not be working.

Long story short unless you have some very unique niche that you're tying to get content for purchasing it from one of the many content production companies is going to be cheaper. Or having the content company shot you exclusive content would still be cheaper than trying to shoot it yourself. Most of the good content production companies out there will charge you whatever it is going to cost them to get the model for the day. Then they spend an hour maybe two producing your specific product then shoot the girl for themselves for the remainder of the day. It's a win win for everyone involved. You get a exclusive product (say 1, 30 minute vid or 2 15's and a couple of still sets) for $500 or there about depending on the talent. The content company gets to shoot the girl for another client or for their own use.

I second that motion.

Clearly a guy who understands the content business.

We want $1,500 a day from a shoot. That's after the models and expenses are paid for.

If you want us to shoot BG, then the good girls want $1,000 a scene and guys $400. These prices will vary according to the amount of work I'm giving the models. On some girls you might have to add agents fees.

The style of the shoot can be Amateur, Gonzo, Teen or Glamour. The difference is in the time it takes to shoot it.

Usually we can shoot 2 scenes a day, if it's simple 3. Any more and the models and shooters are fucked mentally and running on auto.

Now you can get a guy without a clue to shoot some models who are desperate for money and do 5 scenes for $1,500. but will it sell???

If you are shooting two hardcore scenes with video/photo, do you have time to shoot a few glamour or amateur style solo sets of the girls?

For instance, if you are shooting two exclusive hardcore scenes, can you shoot a few solo sets of the same models for yourself or sell them non-exclusive?

You can shoot what ever you like. you can shoot a hardcore scene images and video in 60 minutes. 2 will take 3 hours. Then you can shoot solo scenes.

Of course the odds are the work will be crap and to the surfer will be something he will pass on.

I never look at how much I can shoot on a day, I look at how much I can make on a day. And this can only be done by turning out quality porn.

There are solo girl sites with content that cost $20,000 in total and could of taken the shooter 10 days to shoot. Let's say 100 sets and 20 videos. The tour looks great and everything is fine, until you get inside. The model and shooter are shooting 12 pieces a day. Both are fucked by lunch time and on auto pilot, there is no thought put into the work there is no thrill and the porn element is sinking fast. All so the shooter can turn out a product for a price.

Eva and I have had SINGLE DAYS where we have shot over $20,000 worth of content with two scenes. I would bet a cent to a dollar that any of those two scenes have spilled more sperm than those $20,000 solo girl sites.

What I'm trying to say is, "Don't think of porn as trying to stack a supermarket shelf with tins of baked beans"

Think of it as something personal, intimate and arousing. Exactly the same thoughts the customers have when they are buying it.
