The tool bar isn't real time. It gets updated every few months. If PR didnt exist instantaneously, then you wouldnt see new relevant search results. All results would be uber delayed.

Prolly just more people linking to your deep pages than your top level.

here is a breakdown of the 2 updates they do:

TBPR Export: Toolbar PageRank Export - export of Real PR to the Toolbar PR 11 unit scale (no longer called a PR update as Real PR is updated continously and the Toolbar PR change is just an export of that updated value).

GDPR Export: Google Directory Export - export of Real PR to the Google Directory 8 unit scale (no longer called a PR update as Real PR is updated continously and the Google directory PR change is an export of that updated value).

Well UNSEEN PR is kind of useless is it not? People who are looking for seo placements want to see some kind of "psuedo proof" at least so even if it is updated behind the scenes its sort of irrelevent?

unseen PR is important if you care about the serps, its not important if all you care about is selling links on high PR sites.
