MasterSEO 07-12-2006 10:11 PM

Spudstr 07-12-2006 10:11 PM

teksonline 07-12-2006 10:13 PM

Would not call it the best but it's free

r-c-e 07-12-2006 10:17 PM

putty for sure

securecrt if you feel like paying.

SplitInfinity 07-12-2006 10:22 PM

Putty is cool for a freebie..... go with Secure CRT for a nice solid program.
But putty does the job.. :-)

Phil21 07-12-2006 10:25 PM

I much prefer SecureCRT over putty, for a myriad of reasons.

Basically I recommend if you use ssh once in a while, putty is more than adequate. If you use SSH daily with multiple sessions open at all times, then SecureCRT is a must-have.

This is windows of course :)

Their client rocks.

NdO 07-12-2006 10:28 PM

Only putty :) Simply the best.

sacX 07-12-2006 10:29 PM

secureCRT by miles.. connected to 7 boxes with tabs with putty that'd just be unbearable.

HostGladiator 07-12-2006 10:30 PM

putty for sure..

SplitNinja 07-12-2006 10:31 PM

One busy sysadmin/network administrator would never carry securecrt on his/her memory stick.

Besides, 9mb against 250kb for basically the same function ?

Go putty.

teg0 07-12-2006 10:43 PM

I wish putty had tabs without any plugins. Then it would be perfect.

CamsLord 07-12-2006 10:59 PM

another vote for putty

PussyTeenies 07-12-2006 11:07 PM

for windows:
Putty
SecureCRT
Wincgy-ssh

I have two 24" Dell flatscreens on my home desk, on which I can run 6 putty windows (3x3) in a very nice looking config.

Alternatively, you can just stack the windows and ALT-TAB through them (or click them on the taskbar) -- what's the difference between that, really, and tabbed windows?

darksoul 07-13-2006 01:38 AM

openssh

each to their own, i prefer having them all open in one window and just moving through tabs as need be.

Maybe so, but there isn't a lot of functional difference between tabs in the window, and tabs on the start menu.

For me, at least -- but then again, I'm used to the Gnome desktop, where there aren't as many applications with "fancy" features like tabs. When I'm booted into Windows, it's usually for casual board surfing or gaming -- it's hard to get much "real" work done outside of FreeBSD, Linux, or OS X.

That and a couple of extra features here and there .. but really, anything beyond putty is just bloatware in most cases.
