Dreamhost - problem with heavy MySQL query ?

DreamHost.com offers killer hosting programs for a fraction of the prices but I read on forums that they have two problems : Downtime and Slow MySQL connections.

What are your experiences with them ?

KrisKross 07-12-2006 07:42 PM

There's a reason why they're so cheap. If you're looking for uptime, fast load times and even moderate MySQL use, pay for a real host. If you're looking for downtime, oversold servers and a terminated account for using too much resources, go for Dreamhost.

Remember, you get what you pay for.

You pay what you get for.

that's what I though.

Any suggestion for a solid MySQL Host. My website will be mostly a database application...

Try reliablehosting.com or reflected.net

These threads are sooo damn funny, how do you think they can charge so little for so much? Its called OVER FUCKIN SELLING to a point where thier hosting is almost unusable. As they always say, You get what you pay for

CamsLord 07-12-2006 11:02 PM

dreamhost works just great for me

dij 07-12-2006 11:15 PM

heh, 2nd problem post about dreamhost.
I was about to buy hosting from them at one point, so glad I didn't.

wtf do you have with dreamhost? I use them since 2000 and never had any major problem, just the regular maintenance dowtime, which is previously announced and some unexpected ones, like when there was that huge problem in LA ...
Do any of you guys who speak about them know they have a 97 days money back guarantee? Plenty of time to test it before you speak ... Who else offers 97 days???
There was a problem with CPU (but not for static pages), now that issue was removed as a potential problem, if I remember well.
So, test it for 97 days, if you don't like, get a refund, no questions asked, and then speak about the issues ... Not from what you heard from others ... :2 cents:

I've used dreamhost for over a year (sql included) without a single major problem.

I'd love to see somebody diss them that actually used them.

Doctor Dre 07-12-2006 11:53 PM

P.S. if you don't like dreamhost you can try them for 97 days and get a full refound.

DomP_nl 07-12-2006 11:53 PM

Bump for dreamhost's great service..

Ace_luffy 07-13-2006 12:29 AM
