Ever feel like you can't sleep until your work is done...

....but you always have work to do?

welcome to my world..2 fucking days ago I finally fell asleep after getting 2 hours sleep in 3 days

I got up yesterday at noon and haven't been able to sleep again yet

sometimes I hammer shots of whiskey at 11am to help me sleep because I am about to go insane from insomnia

ALLY 07-12-2006 07:04 AM

always!
but the point is to make yourself work only for 8-9 hours and not a single minute longer!

Barefootsies 07-12-2006 08:30 AM

Yes.

:2 cents:

BlackCrayon 07-12-2006 08:36 AM

yeah, all the time but if i actually did that i'd never sleep and my girlfriend would probably leave me so i just try and fit as much into an 8 hour work day as i can.

yousofoxy 07-12-2006 08:38 AM

Yes! My problem is exacerbated by the fact that I am holding down a regular 9-5 while starting a business. The trick is to limit the amount of work you each day because the quality of your work will suffer if you overdo it. :2 cents:

Sarah_Jayne 07-12-2006 09:53 AM

welcome to my life

yup.. happens to me regularly..

Babagirls 07-12-2006 10:03 AM

ya but i cant do that anymore. i did that shit for a year and i had insomnia to the point of going insane & being burned out. so if i dont get something done, i just add it to my "To Do Today" list and all is well.

NoWhErE 07-12-2006 10:13 AM

Happens to me sometimes, but then I look back and realize : its just money, I'd rather live than be coocooned up at my desk.

Sleep is sweet, getting up fresh is even sweeter.

Yep... finally went to bed at almost 4am this morning.. rise and shine at 8... its all worth it :thumbsup

AaronM 07-12-2006 10:17 AM

Hey Jace....I will make this sacrifice just for you.

I got a pretty good nights sleep last night and I have been laying in bed with my laptop just fucking around this morning.....

With the exception of taking my dog for a walk before he shits in my home, I will stay in bed for another few hours so that I may rest more for you.

BTW.....I'm currently naked....Not even wearing a watch. :Graucho

xlogger 07-12-2006 10:20 AM

hahaha, yeah.

Thats why my sleeping patern is so fucked up.

dynastoned 07-12-2006 10:23 AM

yeah i find myself putting too many things on my plate for one day. sometimes its hard to judge how long something will take until you actually begin doing it. but by that time its too late because the shit is half finished. and im the type of person that doesn't leave things half finished. before you know it you haven't even been outside to see the light of day and its night time all over again. but i enjoy the challenge so fuck it thats what i do. :)

LittleSassy 07-12-2006 11:38 AM

E$_manager 07-12-2006 03:06 PM

Poor you.

reynold 07-12-2006 07:24 PM

martinsc 07-14-2006 03:47 AM

sounds familiar

Scott McD 07-14-2006 03:52 AM

I always make sure i get a decent amount of sleep now.

The days of 2/3 hour sleeps are long gone...

Mr. Blue 07-14-2006 03:56 AM

Jace, the more you stress about not sleeping the more it'll fuck you up. Trust me, I've suffered insomnia all my life and the only time it freaked me out was when I let it. Just don't work a few hours before bed, lift some weights, have sex, go to sleep.

Bozena X 07-14-2006 03:59 AM

I worked in film production for 2 years, actually sleeping in my office 4 days a week because the fucking phone never stop wringing. I quit production and now I'm looking for a 9-5 job, life is too short man.

Diligent 07-14-2006 04:27 AM

I hear ya.. :Oh crap

But try switching to beer for sleep man, probably somewhat healthier in a longer perspective.

I've found the best method of limiting workload & pressure to be:
quickly analyzing/isolating what of all I *can* do... is actually *worth* the most doing.

And also to only test new projects in (short) periods, not all the time.
