Totally amazing!

Actually, we are about to get further behind. Republicans are trying to pass new bills that would not allow it.

Here's the deal on that cause I'm on the front lines!

The problem is that President Bush will not pass any Bill that includes using new embryonic stem cells. Nor the use of tax dollars to fund embryonic stem cell use.

He's NOT against stem cell use and treatment but he's IS against the embryonic useage.

That's all there is to it.

However, foreign powers have no qualms about using embryonic stem cells. That's the rub. What if some evil force discovers a use for embryonic stem cells that could be put to nefarious ends? We would be at a major disadvantage as they would be years ahead of us.

Bottom line is there are countries out there like fucking Peru that are literally making advances in curing diabetes! They're already curing people and we're futzing around trying to look good for the press.

It's a tough one and it's dividing Republicans and Democrats alike.

We'll get it resolved though and when we do, expect to see miracles you've only dreamed of. No more multiple sclerosis or paralyzed people. No more diabetes and parkinsons and AIDS and alzheimers....

Those are just starters.

When the cancer cures come barrelling through you'll see people dancing in the streets.

In one year on the outside you'll see these miracles...

No fucking doubt.

While America fights over frivolous issues such as gay marriage, dictatorships all across the globe are pulling their shit together. Awesome. :thumbsup

Seriously, it's fucking embarrassing. Here we have third world countries that not long ago treated diseases with shit like Voo Doo and now they're curing blindness and paralysis and diabetes with stem cell technology we're just starting to have conversations about.

To the best of my knowledge embryonic stem cell research is being carried out in the US by private entities, but you are correct that private entities do not receive Federal grants for their research as is provided by some foreign governments.

The Duck 07-12-2006 04:26 AM

think about where we could be if the defense budget was put into medical research..

bringer 07-12-2006 04:31 AM

there isnt a market for cures in the us. we want treatments, not cures, because thats where the money is.

Yes, privatization indeed but that can't compare to the resources of like China where they tell their doctors to either cure something...or else.

If you don't believe the advances in these treatments take a look at this website blog.

It will knock your socks off.

is was announced a few days ago that a university in the uk created living sperm from stem cells recently. which is also totally amazing, especially for sterile men.

"In a step that may someday facilitate new treatments for infertility, scientists have produced live mice by using sperm-like cells derived from embryonic stem cells"
