MPEG Frame Grabs
Hey,
I have tons of mpegs that I need to get frame grabs from. I am looking for a program that will grab a new frame and auto save it every XX seconds or every XX frames. First person to get me a working solution gets 5 free movies :) CD |
imageready will do it and I think TMPGenc will aswell
yeah, imageready can be set to do it ever xx amount of frames. So what kind of movies do I get? :) |

Got tmpgenc and tried imageready. imageready wouldny open it, and tmegenc will only allow you to output EVERY frame as a bmp/jpg etc... not quite what we're looking for... . any other ideas?

Imageready most certainly does open mpeg's; I just did it twice. Try rebooting your system

Which ver of imageready? I'm using 7.0. and does it open, grab a frame every set number of frames or seconds and auto save them?

GOt it to work on one of our machines with a MOV file, and that just made one huge animated gif... but the mpg just imported a single frame.
I dont think this is gonna be the solution.... somebody pelase prove me wrong :) CD |
Try this tool: http://www.seller-club.com/~vcdcut/

I use Video Capturix from here, http://www.softlandmark.com/VideoCapture.htm it can take timed screencaptures, so just play your movie in fullscreen while it is recording every 10 sec, you can then use thumbsplus to shrink them down to a managable size :)

Thanks for al lthe suggestions, poblem is that without being able to batch overnight, the tens of thousands of movies would take months to do while having to look at them or run at normal speed with user intervention. Maybe some sharp programmer out there will realize the need for this as a batching program :)
Thanks anyways guys CD |
How to use TMPGenc, open your file you want to capture the frames from, the File->Output to File->Sequence->pick your file type and save. It will output all the frames for you; if you choose to output in jpeg you can choose the jpegs quality.

yys,
again, the reason it wont work is that I dont want 79,200,000 frame grabs stored on my computer... If I did this with all 11000+ movies we have I'd need a netapp filer to store all the jpegs :) (120 second clips 30 frames per second) we need something like I said that will only grab every XXXth frame and save it automaticaly, then jump forward by another XXX frames and repeat. i have the solution that will save you hours and hours of headaches. contact me over icq.
