Sony is always good, and getting a 3-chip (CCD's) camera is best if you can afford it. Also, MiniDV is the most favored format, although if you're making them just for yourself, and you're doing volume, a Digital8 camera (records on less expensive and more widely available Hi8 tape) is something to consider. Still, I'd get a MiniDV camera if MiniDV tape is easily available. You'll want some sort of anti-shake technology, too. Less shake means that more compression (smaller files) is possible.

Rather than recommend specific cameras, I just thought I'd tell you some things I'd look for the next time I buy one.

Ever wanted to have the power to see through womans clothing like a perverted Superman??? Since your buying a new cam I thought I'd let you know what I discovered the other day watching CyberCrime. Basically when Sony first introduced the "NightShot" feature in their cams people quickly found they were able to see through light clothing when this nightshot feature was used in bright light. Sony did away with the IRfilters installed on the cameras but you can still buy the filters have a little xray fun. I think the filters works best with the Sony Nightshot and Panasonic Nightvision features. Good for a New X-ray Voyeur Niche maybe??? :Graucho

Here's a few links:

Would be good for a few kicks if nothing else...

Good luck finding the right cam! :thumbsup

Are you after a digital stills camera or a video camera from which you want to grab individual frames????

If it's a digital stills camera I recommend the Canon G2 - Fantastic camera!

A good review - and a good review site for digital cameras in general is here:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_reviews/g2.html

If you're after a video camera - I use a Panasonic DV 601. It only has a 680k pixel chip but takes amazing video and I use Pinnacles Studio DV and pull individual frames... to see the quality of these frame captures go to my members area of my site at:
http://www.chezchris.ca/members/amber/amber_b.html
usercode: test
passcode: test
I'll leave the codes up for a few hours.

To see the pics from my Canon G2 go to:
http://www.chezchris.ca/members/amber/amber_a.html
Same codes.

Hope this helps.....

In my opinion... for the web... you don't need a three chip!

:thumbsup
