Info on Atlantis for a vacation in September-ish...

I know PF has been there numerous times, I'm some of you other people have also. Lay the details, things to see, things to avoid, etc. on me. Is it all inclusive, are there tons of hidden expenses? Is there more to do than just the hotel? How many days are ENOUGH?

Right now my gf and I are thinking 4 or 5 nights, not sure which portion of the hotel or what level of room.

Atlantis is cool, but I do remember the beach was a long walk from our room. They make you go through the casino, past the shops and restaurants and a few bars before you see sand. Then they have guys on the beach to sell you rides/parasailing/jet skis, etc.

Plan on spending a lot more than just the flight and the room cost.

way overpriced.

get an all inclusive on cable beach and take the 10 bus and a ferry to atlantis to check out the aquarium.. (if ur into that shit)

Is atlantis all inclusive?

AmateurFlix 07-10-2006 11:26 PM

wow, GFY members have discovered the lost city!

No, it's not all inclusive. You WILL have to spend a nice bit of money to get the most out of it. So, if you are trying to do it on the cheap you may be better off staying across the street at the Comfort Suites (I believe that's the name). They allow you full accesss to all the Atlantis activities. Even then you will still find your way into the restaurants and such to eat. Paradise Island is hard to do frugally. Nassau on the other hand is cheap.

But, if you have the cash for Atlantis... The Beach Tower is the cheapest and actually the rooms are decent so you can save a couple of dollars booking in that section.

Just go, don't make plans on what to do when you get there, There's tons of stuff and it all seems to fall into place once you arrive. I will personally guarentee you and that hot girlfriend of yours will take full advantage of the scenery.

Most of all enjoy yourself and don't forget to take some of those cool pictures you always do!

Thanks for the advice and tips PW! I didn't think it was all inclusive but was having a "disagreement" with my woman.

Stay at the RIU right next door to the atlantis. You can walk like 100 ft out the front door of the RIU into the inside of one of the Atlants towers. Quick walk inside to the casino or restraunts if you want. The beach is also alot cleaner and softer at the RIU. RIU is all inclusive and the drinks are made pretty damn good :) We took our honeymoon there a month ago, it was recommended to us my Shap and DrinkingHard.

Sounds like a smart option for all inclusive.

I stayed at a RIU in Cancun last year so yah, that does sound like a pretty bad-ass option. Are passports necessary for there? Never been down that way.

I hated Atlantis. Overrated, rooms sucked, overpriced, couldn't get a decent meal because every restaurant was so crowded, you have to book your restaurant reservations days in advance at guest services if you want to eat.

the water park and pool areas are a ton of fun but they are not enough to have me go back there with a gazillion families.

Unless that is what you want...

What time of year was that?

If you like gambling, really nice restaurants & sex in exotic public spaces Atlantis is enjoyable.

BradShaw 07-11-2006 09:21 AM

Overpriced and too many stinking kids. I doubt I would go back.

BradShaw 07-11-2006 09:22 AM

The problem is that there staff is bahamian, lazy. They do not know how to cater to the rich as as well as the beaners.

By the way, I had no problem with kids. After the initial couple of days on the beach I only really hung out on the site after dusk so they were nowhere to be found. I don't mind seeng families and playing kids. You will enjoy watching them pet the Manta Rays. It's cute.

What I did find were hot women on vacation trying harder to fuck me than I was them. Not a bad thing IMHO.

All I gotta say is check out the rope bridge by the waterfall. You'll know what to do when you see it.

CyberAgeGary 07-11-2006 09:36 AM

I will be in Atlantis in Late August, I have been there before, but it's been like 7 years, hope there is more to do now, The underground aquarium is a must see for everyone....

Sosa 07-11-2006 09:39 AM

Save your cash and book at the RIU, enjoy nassau by ferry or cab. Goto the Casino at Atlantis as well as the aquarium if you are into that. They will both be free.

That is the plan. Is there access to the cool ass waterslide and all that crap too if you aren't staying at Atlantis?

I agree with you 100%

RIU is right next door and it's ALL INCLUSIVE!! Just make sure you tip your bartenders well when you arrive so they remember you :)
