Remember to feed it every now and then, that's how they stay alive! Also, poke holes in the roof of its box.

Seriously though, try not to worry too much when you get it home and you're all "well, what the hell do we do now?". It's pretty tough to kill something through neglect, so as long as you're, you know, doing stuff for the kid, you're almost certainly doing way more than the raw necessity to ensure it grows up just fine.
