WHo the fuck are these people? DOMAINREGISTRYSUPPORT.COM

I just got a phone call from these people that was very evasive and was definitely originated in a foreign country. They were giving me "courtesy updates" about my domain name registered at DirectNic.com

Directnic has always been very good to me, thats why I continue to pay 15.00 a name to register.

This company told me thatthey were the "Notification Processor" for the Internet.

I bluntly asked him:

What do you have to do with DIrectNic? He said, "Nothing"

Why are you contacting me? He said "We are informing you as the notification processor to the internet of recent changes, and after I inform you, you can make your own decisions on what to do."

What the fuck does that mean? Do you work for DIrectNic? He said, "No."

Why are you calling me about my domain names then? He said "We are required to do this because we are the "Notification Processor" for the Internet."

Do you work for ICANN? <CLICK> dial tone..............

What the fuck?

Caller id was blocked too.

Anyone else experience this? When I informed him that I have worked in web for 12 years, he started to get sketchy.

This is the site he sent me to.

www.domainregistrysupport.com

I've gotten wierd sales calls right after I registered domains before, but tis domain I have had at DirectNic for 5 years almost. This is also the first person that purportedly worked for "The Internet" :1orglaugh

WTF?

I get letters all the time from them wanting me to send them money to renew my domains, including ones that don't expire for 3 or more years, and even though all of my domains are with Enom.

:thumbsup

total scammers...

seeric 07-10-2006 04:43 PM

I think that if are going to misrepresent themselves as working for ICANN or anyone above the domain name registration level that they are walking the line with what they are doing. dumbshits might fall for this crapola.

this dude was stuttering and trying to choke out words after i had him pinned against the wall with my verbal venom trying to figure out their spot on the totem pole on the web. turns out their spot is under the totem pole. eventually he hung up and retreated. i think i'm gona crank call them for fun now when we get drunk and tell him we have 4,000 domain names and we want to transfer them all and horrible stuff like that.

There are many registrar companies that try to fool customers into transferring their domains. Many make it look like it is a bill that needs to be paid, which confuses customers. Obviously you can imagine what happens to your domains with these kind of stammers.

hey mike, yeah he wasn't fooling shit this time. i bet all of your customers are not that lucky. they ultimately cost you money. can't the ftc or someone make their life miserable. my number is also on the gov do not call list and that did nt deter them with their "official" internet call. he made it out to be like he was working almost at government level for icann until i called him out in a harsh way.

Yea there are some of theses compagnies all over the place trying to scam you.

scottybuzz 07-10-2006 06:06 PM

sales call suck , i used to work for a firm that sold windows, so many tricks i had up my sleeve

wyldblyss 07-10-2006 06:22 PM

I have had snail ones emailed to me that looked like a bill, told me it was overdue and if I did not pay them I would lose my domain. I obviously just chucked them in the garbage
