when buying expired domains....
 

how do I find out if a domains been blacklisted or banned, etc,,, I don't want to buy these expired domains if they have a bad past,,, I'm thinking with such great names they've expired for a reason,,,,,


2nd question,,,,, a good one expired 4 days ago.. if I put in a backorder, how long do I have to wait,, or should I wait & register it after it's released,,,

backordering domains are usually useless

most domains, especially those that are a little desirable usually end up in SnapNames or something similar. Even so if it expired a few days ago, then it's more than likely going to take up to 90 days to be deleted.

so what's the point of wanting expired domains if it's a 90 day wait, other than for the desirable name? I'm sure it will no longer be indexed by then.

there is a difference between deleted domains and expired domains

expired domain is a domain that is no longer being "paid for" or has expired. the registrar on average will hold the domain for the client for 60-90 days afterwards and try to entice them to renew it for a huge fee (sometimes hundreds of dollars).

Deleted domain is a domain that has been deleted from the dns fo the registrar and open to the public after the 60-90 wait, however, a lot of registrars have agreements with companies like snapnames so they can sell it to the public in an auction for more money. if the domain is undesirable, then it becomes registrable.

If there is a way for it to get the domain before it goes to snapnames i'd like to know :)
