The woeful plight of our industry. I continue to be amazed.

It may well be an exaggeration of sorts for me to say that I am surprised, however, I continue to be amazed every time I see someone posting spiteful things about content girls or about people who are involved in unconventional relationships.

You would think that this industry would covet beliefs which not only are it's product's foundation, but moreover, beliefs that tend to be the epicenter of political scrutiny: Fuel.

I am an open person, something this industry really has nothing to do with. I have never cared about other people's relationships, or choices that a woman makes in concern with being on camera sexually.

Yet weekly, people cash checks in this industry and then make some off-handed comment comparing content girls to "sluts."

Or, today's gem about couples that swing for the purpose of content production being "idiots."

It really goes to show that if the Government were smart, it would step back; as this industry is quite capable of eating its own. In a sense, it has already started the process on business levels; however, it is really bottom of the barrel when people begin attacking both its core competencies and moralistic fibers.

After that, what is really left?

If you seriously judge people for how they live their personal lives, you have chosen the wrong occupation. There are a wealth of social organizations that welcome those that judge others for how they live, I am hopeful that this is not one of those places.

soulswagon 07-09-2006 09:28 PM

I don't judge. Free is free.

marketsmart 07-09-2006 09:29 PM

i agree 100%.... whats idiotic is for a person to profit from talent and then turn around and judge them.. kinda like biting the hand that feeds you imo...

p1mpdogg 07-09-2006 09:29 PM

i think we are all scum and are going to hell.

Content is what content does.

Well Said Cory! I think these people should be more concerned about their own lives, instead of what other people are doing

God damn I took a smoke break this morning and came to the same exact observation. And I don't see the innerworkings nearly as closely as you do.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 07-09-2006 09:40 PM

Your post brought this old Monty Python chestnut to mind...

Man:
'Evening, squire!

Squire:
(stiffly)
Good evening.

Man:
Is, uh,... Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?

Squire:
I, uh, I beg your pardon?

Man:
Your, uh, your wife, does she go, eh, does she go, eh?

Squire:
(flustered)
Well, she sometimes 'goes', yes.

Man:
Aaaaaaaah bet she does, I bet she does, say no more, say no more, know whatahmean, nudge nudge?

Squire:
(confused)
I'm afraid I don't quite follow you.

Man:
Follow me. Follow me. That's good, that's good!
A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat!

Squire:
Are you, uh,... are you selling something?

Man:
SELLING! Very good, very good! Ay? Ay? Ay?
(pause)
Oooh! Ya wicked Ay! Wicked Ay! Oooh hooh! Say No MORE!

Squire:
Well, I, uh....

Man:
Is, your uh, is your wife a sport, ay?

Squire:
Um, she likes sport, yes!

Man:
I bet she does, I bet she does!

Squire:
As a matter of fact she's very fond of cricket.

Man:
'Oo isn't? Likes games, eh?
Knew she would. Likes games, eh?
She's been around a bit, been around?

Squire:
She has traveled, yes. She's from Scarsdale.

(pause)

Man:
SAY NO MORE!!
Scarsdale, saynomore, saynomore, saynomore, squire!

Squire:
I wasn't going to!

Man:
Oh! Well, never mind. Dib dib?
Is your uh, is your wife interested in... photography, ay? 'Photographs, ay', he asked him knowlingly?

Squire:
Photography?

Man:
Snap snap, grin grin, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more?

Squire:
Holiday snaps, eh?

Man:
They could be, they could be taken on holiday.
Candid, you know, CANDID photography?

Squire:
No, no I'm afraid we don't have a camera.

Man:
Oh.
(leeringly)
Still, mooooooh, ay? Mwoohohohohoo, ay? Hohohohohoho, ay?

Squire:
Look... are you insinuating something?

Man:
Oh, no, no, no... yes.

Squire:
Well?

Man:
Well, you're a man of the world, squire.

Squire:
Yes...

Man:
I mean, you've been around a bit, you know, like, you've, uh... You've 'done it'...

Squire:
What do you mean?

Man:
Well, I mean like,... you've SLEPT, with a lady...

Squire:
Yes...

Man:
What's it like?

I'm going to try and be "nice" with this one Cory :winkwink:

Suspect what you are seeing are folks who are not *really* in the adult biz, but often "affiliate fodder" who have no clue on talent. Some call them "internet marketers" - and they also have a valid role to play.

Generally, prior to the net, there was rarely any "sniping" at talent - they were treated same as anyone else. Any shooter knows very well ya don't introduce talent as "Here's my daily slut" - he'd get his lens stuffed up his ass.

Following on from that, there's the "Would you hit it" threads - basically just immature bullshit and little to do with the adult biz. It's surfer content which supposed to be used for promo - not drooling over.

Bottom line.. this may be an adult webmaster board, but that seems to cover far more than actual adult webmasters and may be a reason for the utter dribble and "opinions" about others.

OK.. That's the subdued and "nice way" of saying it :winkwink:

Wow amazing post. Finally something on this site thats worth reading. I feel the same way. Lots of people shoot content and then look their nose at girls who do content. I myself have been on both ends of the lense and I think its crap that when we do work hard on our own sites we are considered trash or sluts. Personally I feel that most people who shout those words are jealous that they cant be content. Its just more of the close minded american view. If you go over to europe being naked in public or on the net is not that big of a deal. When is america gonna wake up and step out of the stone age and realize that womens bodys are beutiful and sex is sexy. We all look at it so why look down on people who do it.

:) my two cents

I do agree with what you are saying. It's biting the hand who feeds you.

But on the other hand, some of them are really sluts looking for their next hit, and I have a lot of disrespect for drug addicts... People that control themselves and do this because they want to, more power to them.

Never said so above Anne, but was on the verge - only my :2 cents: but there "appears" to be more a fuss and decrying of talent on this side of the Atlantic than in Europe. Can't say I ever heard this from anyone in the adult biz in the past - until visiting GFY.

I'm involved in an agency and studio in Europe and no way is talent decryed or abused - they are simply there to provide "content" and without that, we would not exist. It's also fair to say several of the girls are good friends who we have known for years. They also have their own lives - mainly fairly normal like us all - and it's not anyone's biz how they choose to live.

Dunno.. smell we are seeing "amateur" creeping in on GFY while on the subject of talent - ie.. folks who have little clue :)

puh-leeze - i guarantee you if i take a look through WEG's network of sites I'll find plenty of references to 'sluts', 'whores' etc etc

and no there is no difference in using those terms to market porn to consumers or a webmaster using it on GFY or elsewhere.

goldrush 07-09-2006 11:04 PM

personally i think it's disgusting how porn sexually objectifies women, but i'll quite happily keep cashing the cheques as long as my SE traffic converts on porn tours. :thumbsup

And.. what has that got to do with eg.. calling talent "idiots", sluts or whatever? You ever heard of any industry that decries the product they market?

It's irrelevant whether you are marketing a slab of butter or tits or whether you "really" believe in the product or not, - it's amateur to slam it.

Totally.

This is more about "judging" people in general. The epicenter of that judgement happens to be people's occupations or sexual choices.

Creating a site about 2 gay guys and using terms to illicit a sexual environment is different than judging them for the occupation.

goldrush 07-09-2006 11:19 PM

actually i see nothing wrong with judging emotionally damaged coked up whores who suck cock for a living... they are one step up from gutter prostitutes really... i don't mind sitting in my ivory tower and profiting from their misfortune though. :thumbsup

When was the last shoot you were on that involved "emotionally damaged coked up whores"?

Can't say I've ever been on a shoot or had anyone else have a shoot in our studio that involved anything like that - ever.

Thinking..... and also, least so far, never came across any talent on the books who was known to be on coke - or any other drugs - and that's out of around 300 girls. (What they may "use" elsewhere may be another story - simply by the law of averages).

Where does this concept of "coked up whores" come from goldrush? :winkwink:

Choppa 07-09-2006 11:38 PM

totally agree with you on that matter Cory, some of these people in this industry seem to have double standards

Its amazing to me that america was started by people running away from opression and that seems to be the first thing we do to people. Its obvious when you compare strip clubs in europe with the ones in the us. The ones in the us the girls seem for the most part to be upset about where they are. If you go into a strip club in London they will sit and have a drink with you and you can tell that they are happy to be working there. Honestly I love europe for the fact that it is so open. I am still holding out hope that america will step away from the bible and out of the dark :)

MicroChick 07-09-2006 11:54 PM

Cory, what is this bullshit you are pontificating.

What about the censorship that occurs daily on the boards? Porn people are the first to censor and raise hell because they don't like what posters are posting. Alien got banned...again, here on GFY. Look how many times Amp has been banned from GFY by the very people who hired him.

What about your comments, Cory, about a certain ex-WEG employee with the first initial (P) !! You continue to start threads with a self-righteous flavor/theme, yet you so hypocritically do the very things you condemn.

Cory, go watch your fashion shows on Bravo......clean up your own house, and then come back and be honest without all the diatribes and long posts about how terrible we all are.:(

Mr. Blue 07-10-2006 12:16 AM

I think people are judging the "industry" based on a few shills that post here for some drama and sig views. It's been my experience that the talent is always treated respectfully and defended by the people in the biz.

So, it's a nice speech you gave, but I think you're giving too much credit to the idiots that are barely even in the industry as representing the industry as a whole.

Kimo 07-10-2006 01:33 AM

yeah i mean how can we expect the rest of the world to respect and accept our industry if we dont even do that ourselves?

You said it :thumbsup Ya know who can be trusted with stuff, what kind of work they will produce, who will pay funds due, who know this biz, who don't talk shit and who delivers - above all, who your friends are. Been dealing with many of the same people for well over 25 years - they rarely screw up - if they ever do, there is valid reason.
