Shotguns...
 

i don't know to much about them, but am looking for one to buy. mostly for home protection.. i would like to keep it under $250, but it doesn't really matter much.

also i need a 20 gauge so my girlfriend can shoot it also without a problem.


anyone have any ideas?

I can't advocate gun use, but I would recommend a nice high concentration of pepper spray and a high powered tazer or stungun. A five second burst from a 950,000kv stungun is going to keep them down a while, repeat as necessary :thumbsup

go with a Mossberg or Remington

for a basic pump shotgun, get a remington 870 express, it's well built, very basic and takes lots of abuse, I have a S&W 40 pistol for home protection, everything else is locked up

mossbergs rock... get the shortest barrel you can

Remington is a good choice

mossberg 870 with a pistol grip, 16" barrel and get yourself some flechette rounds if you want to shred whatever you shoot without worrying about the whether they're behind a wall or not.

A pistol grip mossberg will work. While your at it attach a medium to small mag light under the barrel about 1/2 short of the barrel tip. A standard 12 gauge will do you just fine and your girl will have no real trouble using it if she has to. Worst case is a small bruise if she handles it wrong. A 20 gauge is just to weak.

Then just do a shell line up. Mine personally is rock salt, then pellets, then slugs. First one wont kill anyone but will definitely deter if needed and then it goes lethal to damn lethal even behind shit.

That's exactly what I have ... Moss 500 with pistol grips and Light ... since these pics I added the switch for the light on the front pistol grip.

I love it ... I do the same load on the shells also. I just had it up camping with me and shot the hell out of some stuff. The double grips are really nice for control.

I think mine was about $375 total .. not bad

attached mag lights are great if you want to give someone somthing to aim for

waste of money... if you are in your home, you wont need it, all you need to do it aim it in the direction where any noises are coming from

I disagree. Rule here is you push the handle button to turn on the light right before pulling trigger. It would temporarily blind your adversary in night time conditions. Its not like we would wonder around with it on.

I would go with a high powered Tazer gun. Forget shooting someone with a shotgun, if you do you will have nightmares for life. :2 cents:

Also depends on your local legal climate.

Sometimes, just using the gun tags you as a gun nut and lands you in jail fighting a conviction.

And in other places, wounding/injuring an intruder results in fighting a civil suit for years, while killing an intruder ends with the police paperwork.

pistol grip on a shotgun is no good for a chick, rough on the wrist,
girls are better off with a snub nose revolver,
something the assailant cant grab the barrel on and pull it aside

forget the shot gun, you need a 22 long rifle, and a back up .380 semi auto handgun, the combo is perfect! The ladie can use it with ease, you have plenty of shells, and if they get close you have the little stopper she can use to to put em to sleep!

i want a handgun also, but not for home protection, it's a lot harder to miss with the shotgun.

Mossberg is ok, Remington is bombproof, can be dropping in the mud and shot, Benelli is a Cadillac...Figure out what you like by shooting at a local gun range, 12 gauge w/ a 2 and 1/2 in shell is easy on a girls shoulder.

OK.. I'll admit it :) It was a surprise at first, but got used to it quickly. The difference between GFY and trained firearms folks is they don't seem to talk about it or boast.

Seems to be all about dick size here - chances are most of em here would have their "home protection" stuffed up their asses and flat on the floor even before they had the chance to piss their frilly panties :winkwink:
