Router Problems - need advice!
Hey gang....I came home last night from a shoot and my cable TV and internet were not working. I called my provider and they said that it "should" be working...everything looked fine on their end. They sent a tech guy out today and after investigating, he confirmed that someone from their company had unplugged my services yesterday but could not explain why. He got my services back up and running but after a few minutes my internet went down again. Although my modem was all lit up, the browser wasn't bringing up any web pages :Oh crap
I called tech again and he could not explain why I was having these problems...everything looked fine on his end. We decided to bypass the Linksys router (and go direct from the modem to the computer) and now everything seems fine. Any ideas why this router just all of a sudden developed problems? Is this normal? Any suggestions on what I need to do to get this router back in the game so I can connect my other computer(s)? |
What has always worked for me is to...
unplug the modem and router and turn off all the computers. Wait about a minute then plug the modem in and wait till it cycles to working mode. Then plug the router in and wait until it cycles to working mode. Then turn on the computers one by one. Don't know if that will help your situation but it's always done it for me |

this is called router restart :)
but anyway, if you know anything about router and it's configuration, try to go on router main configuration page, maybe it simething there is not configured right or maybe configurations just restarted by themselves, sometimes these things happen... try look it may help |
This has happened to me a couple of times and I did what Ice mentioned and it worked fine, hope it's working soon.
