VW has been looking to indirectly buy a stake in Lotus. The two manufacturers, Lotus and VW, have been flirting with each other for a while. Like with this trike they put together.

And since VW owns Lambo...it doesn't seem that far fetched...we'll have to see if this is a final design.

That's true...and this is certainly a mule for Lotus...but historically the mules end up looking very close to the end product.

I saw a side shot of the Lotus and it was nearly impossible to tell it apart from the Gallardo.
