Oh, basically it's group health insurance offered through the American Music Center.

See, I ended up with a medical condition out of the clear blue sky. That killed any chances of an individual plan. Only options I had were high risk or group insurance. Employer group or other group. Lo and behold what do I find out that many groups even sometimes your college alumni group or guild can offer group health insurance. No turn downs even if you have existing conditions.

So there I ended up finding one of them, AMC. Now if you live in NY you're real lucky because there are several groups that will take you on regardless.

It's a way to beat the system and I'm glad it's there. I'll be donating hefty to any artists groups that offer such programs.

This particular one offers programs from www.tiegit.com an HMO and PSO options. The premiums are very reasonable as are the deductibles and copays.

I chose the Music Center because I've written so many songs and my most successful comic books are music based.

You join the AMC for like $50 a year and 30 days later you're in the health insurance safely.

Just hope these places actually pay out when you have that $500K bill. That's what I love about BCBS - it might cost a bit more, but my bills have been paid on time, every time for over 10 years. And if you read what you sign when you go to the hospital or doctor, you're responsible if the insurance company doesn't pay.

I didn't look at the sites, just an CYA. Run some Google searches on the insurance companies they use and just double check to make sure they pay claims :)
