As in there is a predetermined winner form the get go. Been seeing alot of money and prizes being thrown around alot latey.....

fl_prn_str 07-06-2006 06:16 PM

I refuse to believe that anything is fixed such as-
  • Boxing
  • Wrestling
  • Presidental election
  • Professional sports game (Baseball/Basketball)

not to mention anything that has to do with porn........

scarasm has now ended you may return to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.

Violetta 07-06-2006 06:20 PM

I bet some of the contests are fixed yes.

scottybuzz 07-06-2006 06:22 PM

same here

Scroto 07-06-2006 07:46 PM

pretty sure most are :2 cents:

CamsLord 07-06-2006 07:47 PM

hopefully not

Doctor Dre 07-06-2006 07:47 PM

Yea ... it's always small affiliates winning... kind of dudes you can bribe 5k$ so they shut their mouth instead of giving them the 50k $ car

Spunky 07-06-2006 07:48 PM

No,but the bots have them figured out pretty good

Dion 07-06-2006 07:48 PM

thats why you have reputable third parties handle the drawings

Head_Hunter 07-06-2006 08:49 PM

I think most are thats why i dont even bother :2 cents:

will76 07-06-2006 08:57 PM

This is a mean thread. Thats like telling the noobs there is no such thing as Santa Claus.

I personally dont think they are fixed , I just think they are a dumb way to "advertise".

Give all your money to one idiot who sent you a couple sales, so you can create a "buzz" for your program, and try to attract other idiots who sole purpose is to win a prize, and then not give your top 100 producing affiliates .001% of what you gave joe noob.... brillant business model, and these fools think it works. :upsidedow

the Shemp 07-06-2006 08:57 PM

congrats to the winners... :thumbsup

fallenmuffin 07-06-2006 08:58 PM

Of course they are fixed. It's a clever way to write off a nice bouns to someone they want to keep on board.

seems like the same guys win over and over .. I know that whenever we give something away it almost always goes to some sig whore that posted 50 times on the first 2 pages and when you deliver the prize and asked them if they are going to send traffic they say "well my sites are being redone ..but as soon as i get them up again I'll get a shit load of traffic over" the traffic never comes .. I think from now on when I'm giving something away the winner has to be active .. 1000 unique minimum just to show that they are even in the biz. I think some of these guys are just surfers that make a living on give aways ..:2 cents:

Spunky 07-06-2006 09:14 PM

They need a drastic rule change..Surfers and their buddies flock to them for free cash.Hey if I was 14 and found out free loot on the net, wouldn't you do it?

Whats worse....

Paying a sig whore $50 for being post #289 in your contest thread, and never having him send 1 sale to your site or, Having Joe Noob send you 2 sales over his lifetime but he wins a 60K vehicle from you.

That would piss me off ... I guess the rules of the contests just have to get tighter .. it's not fair to the guys that really work hard to send sales and deserve the new car.

wow. i am impressed.

So sales (income generated) should actually = payouts. vs luck = huge payout.

But it's advertising and it works soo well, and it generates hype for the company, and it's the affiliate companies money so they can do what they want with it, and it is the same as skinning GFY :winkwink: Incase you haven't seen my other thread about contest, i am being sarcastic.

thats a good idea, but for instance. I dont send you that much traffic. But I have made a few sales. so cutting me out would not be very nice.

I'm not a big fan of giving away shit for the hell of it or to a # post ... it only works at launch when you are trying to get affiliates and need to motivate them to sign up. I prefer having a nice rewards store (we do)and just sending out random gifts to good affiliates. When we launch satancash the give away worked out well because of the exposer and I have to say that even though the guy that won didn't send traffic .. a very good % of the guys that joined did. The program jumped off nice. But that is the only time i would want to give away something blind like that. I'm all about taking care of the guys that take care of me ... that's one of the reasons we do the 75% bonus Fridays.

For what is worth i totally agree and you have my respect. I dont see anything wrong with a contest to kick off a program. It's the sites that have affiliates who make them 500 sales a week, and they do a dumb contest and they reward a noob who sent 2 sales for being lucky it defies all business logic and even though in some cases they may give their top guys some perks, it is nothing to what they gave the noob.

I can't believe i had several program owners trying to explain to me that is " advertising" and no different then skinning GFY, lol. What they have is a lack of imagination on how to market their program. they think "advertising" is giving money away to people who make them shit. If they could be a little more innovative they could find a way to generate hype about their program and still reward the people who make them money. Affiliates are not stupid, especially the bigger ones.
Things will change in the next couple years... you will have stand up programs that don't do shit like that and focus hard on the people who make the money, and then they will be the less imaginative ones that are still giving stuff away trying to fight over the noobs who are just looking to get lucky.... my :2 cents:

I'm kinda up in the air about them being fixed or not, but all I know is that I won a fucking PSP in the IslandDollars contest :)

http://www.islanddollars.com

Kimo 07-06-2006 10:29 PM

some might be rigged, but not all

Antonio 07-06-2006 10:35 PM

the big ones - for sure, the smaller ones (iPods, PSPs, couple of hundred of bucks) - don't think so

will76 07-06-2006 10:57 PM

If they rigging them, thats fraud. I am sure they could get in serious trouble if they are caught. serious trouble.

sharp 07-07-2006 12:32 AM

some probably are...but the post count ones can't be. dunno

madawgz 07-07-2006 01:26 AM

contests arnt fixed, bots make them impossible to win!

Vitasoy 07-07-2006 01:51 AM

The bigger prizes.. I wonder that, the smaller prizes probably not.
