Ghosts Haunting Flight 93 Crash Site?

Grown men who work as security officers and are known to be tough guys are seeing ghosts at the crash site of United Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Hired to guard the site 24/7, security officers with R.A.C., a rent-a-cop outfit, have reported strange things are happening on this sacred plot of ground they are protecting.

There were heroes aboard Flight 93--ordinary people turned heroes who wrestled with the hijackers and took the plane down in an empty field in Pennsylvania rather than its intended target in Washington, D.C. The 44 people on board perished as the plane plowed into the ground forming a mammoth crater and a huge fireball.

The site is protected by a gate, which is about a mile from the crash location. In addition, there is a house trailer that was supplied by the FBI and state police that is located right next to the crash site.

One of the guards, Robert Wagstaff, told EarthFiles reporter Linda Moulton Howe about the ghosts.

Ghost Story No. 1: The Game of Cards
One night after they had searched the area thoroughly and found nothing out of order, Wagstaff and his partner decided to pass the time playing cards in the trailer. Someone knocked on the door. They opened it--and no one was there. So they went outside the trailer to do another search. They found no one and assumed it was the wind that made the knocking sound. "So, we go back into the trailer and we got our coffee and we went to sit back down to play some cards," he told EarthFiles. "We didn't have any chairs set up yet. Well, when we went to sit back down, one of the chairs was already set up and we didn't set it up. I don't know where the chair came from. I don't know who put it there."

Wagstaff and his partner looked at each other and shrugged. He said they tried to ignore it. They started playing cards. And then they heard muffled voices outside the trailer. "It sounded like a group of people. It sounded like more than one. They all sounded like they was outside on the back half of the trailer. So we hurried out and ran outside, and we looked and there was no footprints in the snow," he said.

Wagstaff has a theory about this: He thinks the hero spirits are herding the terrorist spirits into the trailer using it as a prison, and the heroes are still being heroes--protecting the guards from the terrorist spirits.

Ghost Story No. 2: "So, now what?"
The trailer spooks him so much, that Wagstaff prefers guarding the site from the main gate while sitting in his car. He was there one night at about 3 a.m. He had been alternately working a crossword puzzle and staring at the gate, when he laid his head back to rest for a minute. Then he heard a male voice distinctly say: "So, now what?" No one was there.

"It sounded just like somebody was in my car, like somebody was in the passenger seat and I was in the driver's seat. That's how clear it was, but there was nobody there!" he told EarthFiles.

Ghost Story No. 3: Who's Sitting On the Car?
Another night he was at the main gate sitting in his car--a 1987 Cougar--with the engine running. It had just stopped raining. All of a sudden, it felt as if someone jumped up to sit on the trunk of the car. No one was in sight. He got out to look. No one was there. No tracks or footprints were in the mud. No scuffs were on the car, marring the dirt and rainwater. Nothing. But while Wagstaff was staring at the trunk of his car, the rear end of the Cougar jumped back up. "Like whatever was on it came off," he said.

Ghost Story No. 4: The Woman With the Light Brown Hair
Wagstaff says he saw a ghost near the main gate, which is about a mile from the crash site. "I seen this woman as clear as day," Wagstaff told EarthFiles. He said she was walking toward the main gate from the crash site at about 4 a.m. one night. There was a full moon and a lot of light. She was wearing a blue baseball jersey and blue jeans. She had light brown hair and wore glasses. She didn't have a coat. She vanished into thin air when Wagstaff approached. He said, "She totally disappeared. She didn't like fade out or nothing. It was almost as if I blinked, and she wasn't there no more." But he saw her again--in photographs of the Flight 93 passengers.

Ghost Story No. 5: The Shadow People
Wagstaff isn't the only one seeing ghosts at the Flight 93 crash site. Other night guards also report strange occurrences, especially the sounds of people walking through the trailer and knocking on the trailer door.

The other guards say they have seen what they're all calling "shadow people"--realistic-looking human shadows that aren't attached to human bodies. But there is no light source to create the shadows. Wagstaff said the shadow people are seen walking from the crash site--as if they are trying to get away. "You would see on average probably about six or seven shadows over the course of an average night out there," he told EarthFiles. Shine a flashlight on the shadows and they disappear. "But when I would take my spotlight back off of (where the shadow had been), it would be right there in front of me again running. And it was hard to catch them (with my spotlight) because they was fast. You know, it was hard to catch them with your spotlight," he added.

Yeah.. no shit.

I am open to this shit, weird shit has happend
and people cannot explain it.

Often times, in bad situations.. people are rumored to
have stayed as ghosts to protect or warn others.

Who knows.. I don't but it seems kinda creepy.

Or it's just bored guards.. which could be the case.
I am sure the FBI is not happy about the story
getting out.. more looky loos will be hanging out.

Oh well..

J.R. 06-03-2002 10:19 PM

I read it on Compuserve's News Page under Crime.

I have dialup at home, no dsl at my house so I
use this shitty service at home and while I am out of town.

Its a real news story, not a mainstream one.
I copied the link for the story but it wont work
unless you use their service.

I am sure you can search for it..

Turboface 06-03-2002 10:21 PM

ditto.. theres something sick about this BS.. people love to get caught up in it and make a big deal and wind themselves up on silly superstitious garbage.. But I can imagine one of the dead guy's kids seeing this on the news and asking mom "is daddy really out in the field?" and whether he can go see him.

If they were heros why didn't the land the fucking plane.

Trying doesn't make you a hero.

'cause unlike in the movies there isn't always a pilot or doctor handy amongst a crowd of people when shit hits the fan :)

i hate how we churn out the word "hero" and devalue it by calling someone who managed not to die doing something one.. but these guys took a plane down and probably saved many, many times the passenger count at the intended target.. so.. it's not such a bad use of the word.. im sure the people who would have died at the intended target would think of them that way.

jimmy3way 06-04-2002 12:08 AM

Nobody knows that's what happened.

You're forgetting that, but why let the facts stand in the way of a good story.

If you guys spent as much time working on your adult biz you do reading this garbage you might actually make some money!

yeah.. well being here in aus means we probably haven't been as inundated with breakdowns of all the events.. but as far as I knew there was mobile calls to the tune of "ok byebye wifey -now lets take out the bad guys". . . . crash..

are you telling me that the media would make up a story to sell newspaper copies and to make people feel better about the situation by giving them heroes and a sense of control? are you trying to tell me CNN lies to us???? heheheh :)

they were heroes because the plane didnt crash into the white house, and they attacked the hijackers and in doing so sacrificed their lives to save the lives of many others

Go to Oprah.:2 cents:

Babaganoosh 06-04-2002 01:49 AM

I believe it. They are probably stretching the truth a little, but I generally believe it. I have seen and experienced shit in a house that I used to live in, so I know it's real.
