Anyone ever made an adsense site and sent 100k bought traffic to it?

Curious how that would do.... (non adult)

and can anyone recommend any non adult bulk traffic sellers?

pstation 07-04-2006 03:42 PM

considering most of the sites that claim to sell traffic are auto surfs and completely untargetted it'll probably do horrible, then it's likely you'll get banned from adsense on top of that

polish_aristocrat 07-04-2006 03:45 PM

you can buy choker traffic and send it to a fake real estate site with adsense ads

if you actually try it and succeed, send me $1k for the idea, k ?

scottybuzz 07-04-2006 03:58 PM

why would you get banned from adsense? if you send all the traffic directly to a page that ONLY has adsense ads on it i could see you getting banned.. but if you're sending it to your site that has a lot of content + the ads.. why is that a bad thing?

Has anyone noticed diminishing returns on CPC rates when increasing volume significantly? I increased my clicks on a particular niche by about 200% and my CPC's dropped by a very large percentage (percentage wise).

Can anyone recommend a good mainstream traffic seller?

It's kind of a loaded question. Are you just looking for bulk untargeted traffic? Are you looking for traffic that is targetted and good for your advertisers?

The problem with bulk untargeted traffic to lets say a real estate site is that a) your click-through-rate on ads will be absolute garbage b) those clicks won't convert and help advertisers. Might not seem like a big deal, but Google now has a thing in place called "smart pricing". This means they are tracking the likelihood of your traffic converting into a sale for the advertiser. If it doesn't, they won't pay you or charge the advertiser nearly as much.

My suggestion to you is not to worry as much about the total traffic amount, but about the quality of the traffic. If you bring in 100 people to your site looking for a mortgage and send 10 leads out, It's better than bringing in 100,000 untargeted who bring in 5 leads.

As for who sells, there are a lot of places. Adwords and Yahoo! Search Marketing are the two most popular. You can even create accounts now at MSN and Ask Jeeves (though the traffic is minimal). You can buy ads from any site on the web by contacting them and asking for ad space. You can buy ads through AdBrite (they sometimes have a real good deals). If you go the bulk route, it'd probably be in the form of popups/popunders. I'm not too familiar with the companies that sell that as I stay away from untargeted traffic.

Hope that helps a little.

This happens even with free traffic. I kept changing filters but there seems to be a glass wall.

yeah...it's against their rules to have ads on a page that has traffic coming from an auto surf type of site. it's also against their rules to have pages with adsense advertisements load in pop up/unders. in addition you cant build pages that are made specifically to make money off of adsense.

full list of rules is here: https://www.google.com/adsense/policies

then keep in mind that unlike porn there are MANY different niches in mainstream. so if you're just buying bulk traffic the users that have an interest in your site's topic will be extremely low. you can go the route of getting targetted traffic, but you'll be looking to pay maybe $.25 per click, which amounts to $25k for 100k uniques.

Have you or Soul_Rebel found any fixes? Has your CPC's remained low over the long term or have they stabilized over time?

Maybe it was my sponsor but I actually made more money over the long haul if I "throttled" the traffic meaning keeping it low enough to hit the 'peak' and sent the excess elsewhere. I have a redirect script that allows me to automatically change the target of the traffic.

Theo 07-04-2006 05:23 PM

WiredGuy, spreading traffic to different categories from different sites helps, but not in an exciting degree. My theory is normal accounts are pretty much limited to $XXXX earnings. If you have a large traffic volume it's better to contact them and get a different account status.

Do your rates drop only at a certain time of the day? for things like ringtones for example it's more protifable to run ads during the day when kids are up since adults aren't so impulsive and often look around first.

BTW, I was referring to a dating sponsor. Not Adsense. I use a different method with adsense blogs.

People have done it and yes, Doctor Dre is correct. You have a high chance of getting your account cancelled for this. There's a work around though :pimp

You would have to pre filter it since China traffic is WORTHLESS in Adsense... so if you had 30% of it you would probably set off a lot of alarms...
