Hell yeah, they are launching the shuttle on a 4th of July. And you can watch EVERYTHING live from this link : http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html

My aunt used to work there and was in one of the support buildings that was very close to that pad when that one blew. She said there was so much shit that was destroyed.. People's cars buildings everything. She said they didn't show but a fraction of the damage on the news.

ronaldo 07-04-2006 10:20 AM

It's kind of sad that people used to watch these things out of appreciation for mankinds achievements instead of watching it "Just in case" it explodes.

Best of luck Discovery.

BoyAlley 07-04-2006 10:21 AM

Look like it's actually going to go up this time too. Best of luck to them :thumbsup

I saw the first 20 or so shuttle launches at KSC when I was growing up.. The fact that the thing might blow up never crossed my mind until the Challenger blew up on take off. I'll always remember that day as I was watching out of my 7th grade history class window.

Isn't there a crack somewhere, or something? And they're still launching it?

Hopefully everything goes well! :thumbsup

i really think they do that shit to fuck with people, because if it were an actual problem I would think they would just stop the clock when they discovered the issue and not on the minute mark

crockett 07-04-2006 10:48 AM

There are built in hold times like 10 mins each

Basic_man 07-04-2006 10:48 AM

It's a scheduled hold-on.

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/sh...ntdown101.html

Now, how much time will this take?

well, the launch ran smoothly, but given nasa's track record with fuck ups there is a long road ahead

I really wish they had the money to revamp the space program and start from scratch building new shit with the knowledge they have now

MaddCaz 07-04-2006 12:18 PM

wish I could go with...
