Constipated Cat

Any suggestions?
He goes to his litter box, puts his game face on , sits there for a few minutes, meows once or twice and gets out.

Do cats even get constipation?

Steve 06-03-2002 02:30 PM

one word

DOBERMAN

that will scare the shit out the little bastard

boneprone 06-03-2002 02:31 PM

let the cat out in the yard to eat some grass

Tera 06-03-2002 02:34 PM

I have cats and yes they get constipated, it can actually turn into a bad thing. i won't get into details, but get something so your cat can take a shit! give it grass, or petromalt which actually keeps them from puking up furballs but helps other things too. they also have laxatives to help the poor thing.....

Cheshire 06-03-2002 02:36 PM

I had a cat who died because he got a fur ball stuck in his intestines and couldn't go potty. I heard it happends most often with male cats (I dunno why).
Go to the pet store and buy some kitty laxative. If that doesn't solve to problem get him to the vet ASAP!

p.s. 'Game face', lol!

Babaganoosh 06-03-2002 02:38 PM

Ice cream. Let kitty eat as much as he wants. Kittens can handle milk but believe it or not most cats are lactose intolerant so he should have no trouble shitting after some ice cream (not chocolate).

Ray@TastyDollars 06-03-2002 02:39 PM

DUDE!!!! Get him to a vet quick. Sounds like urinary track desese. My cat had the same thing, easy cure. Worth every penny. GET HIM TO VET NEOW!!!

Good luck
Ray

boneprone 06-03-2002 02:44 PM

yeah, if it cant piss there is a problem.
I lost a cat to feline Leukemia, and this was the first symtom.

Sad.

Take it in to the vet if this has not passed in 24-48 hours.
Try the grass and hairball meds first like Cheshire said.

If still a prob take to the Vet

Tera 06-03-2002 02:45 PM

actaully, my cat died because of the same thing :( RIP stella LOL
we had to get her enimas and stuff.. but it wasn't enough. okay maybe that was too much info.. sorry! oh wait , I am at GFY, you fuckers are used to it

kmanrox 06-03-2002 03:06 PM

a crowbar in his ass would help...

FATPad 06-03-2002 03:08 PM

Get it to a vet. One of my mom's cats died last year because of a urinary tract infection because she didn't take it to the vet soon enough. If caught in time, it's easily fixed.

are you offering your services?

SunTzu 06-03-2002 04:02 PM

If the cat doesn't go for more than a day, take it to the vet. My cat had that problem and it was urinary tract infection, which was easily cured.

If it's just a simple digestion problem, try this site:
http://www.goodpet.com

The digestive enzyme supplement works good.

He has no problem urinating though..... just cant squeeze a loaf

pr0view 06-03-2002 04:45 PM

take your cat to a vet. gfy may be good for laughing but it certainly can't help too much this time :1orglaugh

on a related note - yes, let her eat some grass.

mastamindz 06-03-2002 04:49 PM

Its definatly a urinary infection......

This sounds exactly like him.... He was pissing on things earlier today, I though it was cuz his litter box was to stinky for him becuz we just switched brands

As distrubing as that is, it's also fucking hilarious.
And yes, get your cat to the vet as soon as you can.

cherrylula 06-03-2002 09:08 PM

Give the cat a bowl of milk, and be sure to have your air freshener handy.

I had the same thing happen to my cat once. Everything backed up inside of his ass and she died from it. Very sad.
