Do vegetarians live longer than meat eaters?

I met a vegetarian today and it made me wonder if they live longer. She had terrible breath by the way and smoked cigarettes, lol

is there any study on this?

no they end up with bone desease and other problems from the missing minerials in their bodies.

Wizzo 07-03-2006 09:02 AM

Vegetarians always have weird smell to me...:pimp

gangbangjoe 07-03-2006 09:05 AM

no they live less long.

if you eat meat in the right masses it helps your body a lot because it contains many important substances.

most important thing of all nutrition is the right ammount of everything

there is this pyramid scheme showing what you should eat how often

Apparently this German study says they do, but the group that lived the longest were the vegetarians that would occassionally eat meat.

My personal take on it, man was meant to eat meat, and I don't think a study like the one I posted, would be valid if meat wasn't as tampered with as it is now with growth hormones, etc, etc. If you removed that stuff from the raising of livestock...meat eaters would be just as healthy as a vegetarian as long as they kept within moderation.

You know, come to think of it, I don't believe that I've EVER met a vegetarian that looked the least bit healthy.

We were made to eat meat :winkwink:

If we are ment to eat just veggies... We would have cow teeth.

They suffer less heart issues due to the non-meat, low cholesterol diet. However, most studies indicate little difference with carnivores re susceptibility to cancer.

true. longevity is not related to vegetarianisn per se.

however a diet low in saturated fat and low cholesterol is.

and vegetarians generally have a lower BMI.

however, the philosophical vegetarian diet is tough to get all the protein you need without careful work.

in areas of the world where people eat less (red) meat lifespans are now higher than USA, even though USA has superior medical facilities to prolong life.

that should tell you something. the industrialized world is getting too fuckin' fat.

bad for your health. eat right, exercise, try to use less salt, you will feel better, look better, be lighter on your feet, have more energy, make more money, bang more beaver.

and try to eat more fruits and vegetables, and eschew manufactured or "processed" foods.

exactly correct.

use meat as a "condiment" like they do in asia, and live longer. and if you want to live longest the meats you should be eating are: fish, chicken, turkey mostly.

you can feel satiated on an 1800 cal/day diet if you get a steamer and a microwave and eat lots of vegetables everyday with a small amount of meat.

when you are hungry eat an apple or orange.

and exercise. i could write a book on this, but no time now.

CaptainWolfy 07-03-2006 10:37 AM

it all depends of your DNK

Good points, man. "Processed foods" have too much salt, fat, etc.

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

Cowpokes'll come from a near and far
When you throw a few rib-eyes on the fire
Roberto Duran ate two before a fight
'Cause it gave a lot of mighty men a lot of mighty might

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

Eat meat, eat meat, filet mignon
Eat meat, eat meat, ear it all day long
Eat a few T-bones till you get your fill
Eat a new york cut, hot off the grill

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

Eat a cow, eat a cow 'cuase it's good for you
Eat a cow, eat a cow it's the thing that goes "Mooooo"

Look at all the cows in the slaughterhouse yeard
Gotta hit'em in the head, gotta hit'em real hard
First you gotta clean'em then the butcher cuts'em up
Throws it on a scale throws an eyeball in a cup

Saw a big Brahma Steer standing right over there
So I rustled up a fire cooked him medium rare
Bar-B-Q'ed his brisket, a roasted his rump
Fed my dog that ol' Brangus Steer's hump

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

CamsLord 07-03-2006 11:49 AM

meat is necessary :2 cents:

madawgz 07-03-2006 04:37 PM

maybe a day or 2 extra LOL

ProducerCashDave 07-03-2006 04:38 PM

Vegetarians are gully men

Quick Buck 07-03-2006 04:38 PM

no.

it just feels longer. ;-)

vegetarians who eat *right* are doing themselves a favor. vegetarians who just eat lots of bread and starches should just eat meat.

gandalfuy 07-03-2006 10:55 PM

weird question... the thing here is not to live longer... just to live a nice life!
