How important are check payments?

Some time within the next year, we will be launching a new program, powered by nats or similar.. however, because we are in europe, mailing out checks is not such a great option (unless we get a third party to do it for us (any recommendations?))

epassporte and wire payments are no problem for us.. how important is it that we offer checks as a payment option for our webmasters?

Any input is welcome!

I believe they make up for 10 - 15 % of adult sales.

bizarredollars 07-03-2006 09:13 AM

I don't mean for accepting memberships (that's no problem), I mean for issuing payments to affiliates.

The Ghost 07-03-2006 09:16 AM

I would probably suggest getting a third party to mail out checks, but it's up to you how you want to handle it. Best option would be to get a bank account in the US and use online billpay to a send the checks inside the US. It's generally free to do and no charge for postage. There will still be a few checks to mail outside the US, but it will cut down your costs.

Are wires not expensive for you in Europe, or are you planning on charging a fee?

Tom_PM 07-03-2006 09:18 AM

I dont use epass because all I'd ever want to do is get the money into my bank account. Adding that layer of complexity between my money and my bank is just not worth it to me at this point.

Wires are convenient, but more expensive because both sponsor and my bank charge to receive it.

So, I'd want a paper check mailed to me for sure. Waiting a week for a check that I can just sign and deposit directly is well worth it.

Hi,

there are places out there that work with NATS and can send checks for you. Easy to use also! I can give you more info when you get NATS :)

scottybuzz 07-03-2006 11:11 AM

i get all my checks in us dollars and it is a pain cashing them in.

sharp 07-03-2006 11:13 AM

I think it's a pretty important option.

pstation 07-03-2006 11:13 AM

Why dont more sponsors offer EFT? It's fast and not expensive like bank wires.

WiredGuy 07-03-2006 11:26 AM

Its very important for me, its my desired payment method of choice.

ColourMeHuman 07-03-2006 11:38 AM

I'm thinking about doing direct deposit with Topbucks...I don't know any other sponser who offers that.

You need to offer checks.

Gambit 07-03-2006 11:51 AM

I wouldn't sign up if i couldn't get checks.

madawgz 07-03-2006 04:39 PM

epassporte will takeover the world!

riisto 07-03-2006 04:59 PM

in most of europe checks is more or less worthless... cost alot to cash in...

I would never sign up to a program that only sends checks or wires with $30 fees. Thanks alot epass!

Tempest 07-03-2006 06:01 PM

I won't sign up unless you have checks.

Extremely. I would not promote a sponsor that didnt pay by check.

The Other Sweetie 07-03-2006 07:44 PM

I prefer check over any other payment option. I'm anal about my recordkeeping and like to photocopy the actual check payment.

I like checks... it's fun to get them in the mail and add them all up every week.

avalanche 07-03-2006 08:27 PM

Half the fun of checks is figuring out which is from who!

MaddCaz 07-03-2006 08:28 PM

goldrush 07-03-2006 08:29 PM

Epass and wires are the way of the future... No one outside the US likes cheques. :thumbsup

pocketkangaroo 07-03-2006 08:32 PM

As much as I like wires and EFT, I also don't like giving every sponsor my banking information. ePassporte is convenienet, but still, we see horror stories about them every day on here. For me, checks are the safest bet unless I trust a sponsor enough for EFT or wire.
