Frontpage is a good program, always worked fine for me

mikeyddddd 07-02-2006 01:43 PM

I've heard it can fuck up your refcodes.

I've got Dreamweaver, but have always coded with good old Notepad.

As long as you pretty much know html, FrontPage is fine.

I mostly use Dreamweaver, but I have several sites I've done for family and friends and I do them all with FP, because that's the only thing they know how to use. Luckily, I did start off coding by hand with NP years and years ago, before all the WYSIWYG editors came out.

Bottom line- learn html and css first and you can make most editors work.

so once i made my pages with frontpage, go to the source and redo all the reff codes then?

I like my notepad best as well :thumbsup

I don't know if you'll have to "redo" them, but I would definitely look over everything and make sure it's all okay (especially your refcodes) no matter what editor you're using .

BTW, I never used FP extensions or uploaded with FP. I think it has ftp built in but I always uploaded with a different program (CuteFTP or WS_FTP)

I use dreamweaver, Much better product in my opinion

ridikuloz 07-02-2006 02:40 PM

I use CuteHTML pro, it's like the middle of notepad and Dreamweaver. Alot of functions of Dreamweaver with the simplicity of notepad.

A lot of people will give you crap about using FrontPage; mostly those who still hand code, but if you are looking for a good program to build pages and manage a site without the learning curve associated with Dreamweaver then FP is the way to go. I have been using it for years and it just keeps getting better and better.

scottybuzz 07-03-2006 05:28 AM

ahh ok fr0gman thanks

themanager 07-03-2006 05:32 AM

Contradiction?????????

You do them all with FP because thats the only thing they know how to use??

Violetta 07-03-2006 05:57 AM

sorry, only Dreamweaver for me!

scottybuzz 07-04-2006 10:15 AM

i tried dream weaver i found it harder than notepad, no fucking joke!

RawAlex 07-04-2006 10:40 AM

If you have an older version (FP 2000 or before) just use the editor part and play with the results a bit and you are fine. NEVER EVER EVER use the "front page extensions" on a server. A huge waste of time, effort, and most importantly, not compatible with all browsers.

Get a nice FTP program (cuteftp, example) and you can edit with anything you like... FP is the answer to a question few people in adult should ever ask.

Using front page is the same as shouting at the top of your lungs "I can't design shit!" at a web design conference...
