So according to ARM & HAMMER your not legit and you are a russian if you do not pay for all the SW on your computer...

Sly_RJ 06-02-2002 10:21 PM

No way! Everything is stolen, including my porn. Why buy when I can get free software from KaZaa and great porn from The Hun?

You're a jackass, if you can't afford to pay for software then don't use it. I'm sure most responsible webmasters/companies use 100% registered software, including me.

Can you give me top listing at your TGP??

CC 06-02-2002 10:45 PM

Anyone with a successful business should certainly have enough money to be able to pay for their own SW...plus, you're able to write off the majority of it anyway.

beemk 06-02-2002 10:45 PM

if you get a top listing, you can afford all the software you want after you get 100 signups. problem solved.

FlyingIguana 06-02-2002 10:51 PM

i bet there isnt one person here thats paid for every piece of software that they've had on their pc either now or in the past.

mike503 06-02-2002 10:55 PM

if you run a decent-sized "company" you shouldn't run any chances and you should have licenses for everything you do. it would be stupid not to. and if you're "decent-sized" in that regards, you should be able to afford the shit, too.

the small fish will always be pirating stuff. software companies understand this. they want to fry the big fish and the people re-distributing their wares illegally.

i'm sure you're right. we were all 15 at one point downloading copies of photoshop or something and playing with it, or pirating our OS's and shit to try out the newest stuff, but when we grow up, we should put back into the system. we had our chance to learn and didn't have money for it back then, now we do. it's not a big deal. especially since some of us develop software for companies now and hate to see our work debunked.

it's a personal choice. if you feel obligated, buy it. if you don't, it's your decision. i'm not going to go into the whole "stealing" shpiel, but if there's a price for it out there and you don't pay, logic says that you're technically stealing. :)

When you're right, you're right. I did have some no-nos on my computer back when I was a kid making $5.50 per hour. Once I became an adult, that shit stopped. My point is that anyone stealing things needs to spend more time at work until they can get a real job and make enough money to pay for their software. I honestly believe that people that need to steal shit are just kids or complete wannabes in the business (any business).

If there is a software that I have an interest in and there is a trial download I will give it a try. If I like it I buy it.

If there is a software that does not have a trial, but has a money back guarantee, I will buy it, and if I don't like it, I will ask for my money back.

If there is software that does not have either of the above I will do a warez search, try it and if I like it, I will then buy it.

A thief is without honor and cannot be trusted by anyone, in anyway, for any reason.

I have never stolen anything in my life, not as a kid, and not as an adult. When I was just a kid, I entered the military and spent the next thirty plus years, in the Army. Thieves are not tolerated in the military and those that make it a career learn something about honor.

It is my personal suspicion that the majority of the people in the porn business are men/women without honor.

I don't really understand the purpose of this poll mailman..... what did you hope to accomplish by this? What difference does it make? So, just because there are 15 other people that steal, that's supposed to make it okay for you to steal too? That's some fucked up logic.

Not really... before they go after a company that they know has
non licensed software.... THE 1st thing they look at is if they are able to pay the fine.... At least it use to be this
way... I have not kept up with this... for the last few years....
Also they don't go after the REALLY BIG company's ( they have toooooo many resources).... Mid size...
and then the BIG ones read about the Mid size ones getting busted and they clean there own house... And Mid size
use to be in there eye's 25 million to 200 million... ...
What they want when they bust a company is Money 1st..... then the headlines.... ( and a high profile company ) (
Like Adult.com, would make great headlines,,, SMUT KING Busted for illegal software)
Am not talking about the people re-distributing their wares illegally, they have gone after them from day one (1).

Just like hiphop, I wish people would support the independant people who produce quality software. Microsoft is going to go platinum. Lots of other little companies won't. If they help you, help them!

Amputate Your Head 06-03-2002 02:09 PM

very true socks..... (I hate hiphop by the way)

I've bought alot of small time software, and ya know what I've found? Those guys go out of their way to provide support and get you updates, new versions, hell, most of them will ask if you would like to test their new version out (beta) for free for them..... One in particular that I really like is Lincoln Software.... the guy is great. His software that I bought only ran $25 bucks.... but I use it daily and it was worth alot more to me....

support the software guys.... they gotta eat too. :thumbsup
