For the gfy engineers....
How can I take a motor like the one below, and make it something with adjustable speeds. What type of wires and gadgets do I need to buy so I can plug this to the wall and have like a handy device to adjust the speeds. thanks

Cant you just buy one with a adjustable speed?

I think you're on the wrong board bro

I can teach you how to do it, but I should warn you first... it is a HUGE pain in the ass for someone that hasn't studied electrical engineering and circuitry to do it. Seriously. It's not as easy as just buying something and connecting it, you're going to have to build the pulse circuit yourself and calibrate it to adjust the speeds. You better be really sure you want to do this before starting.

i thought this thread was going to be able the gerbils :)

you are going to rewire a non adjustable motor to become an adjustable?
wow.. talk about going around your elbow. i guess the simple way would be to use a dimmer switch like for a light. safest would be to buy an adjustable. |

I just made something kinda like that for my Electrical circuits laboratory class.A bit smaller though.
I used a bunch of industrial electronics components (diacs, triacs, etc) Check out www.discovercircuits.com, I got most of my ideas there. You`ll need a good background on circuits though. |
