Business topic: Gifting Porn?
 

I'm curious, is anyone offering a way to gift porn or offer gift certificates for adult sites?

It makes plenty of sense if I want to offer the gift of say the Lightspeed girls or help a recently divorced friend with a subscription to Adult Friend Finder that I could give him basically a one month trial that s/he would enter all their details and ideally it would upsell to a full account and rebill indefinitely.

While I am at it, as with a gift card, if the certificate isn't used in a within a predetermined time, it would cash out and become void. This seems like a real win-win deal, so why isn't anyone offering it?

except that it would probably work better (as a gift) if were a nonrecurring subscription, so that the buyer can give the gift and the receipient wouldn't have to get out his charge card at all...

I have done this before, back in 1998-99 with the first billing company I worked for, for our 28 adult sites. I outlined the project and worked with the programmer and it can be done. Takes alot of effort for the billing company to put it together, and now we have affiliate program issues to work out, but it can be done.

Alright it would be great if the option was there to gift a subscription where you can either pay for it yourself, or offer to cover the first month or so and let your friend decide if they want to pay for it themselves.

Problem is age verification. You can buy the subscription I suppose and give the userID/pw to someone. Not what you had in mind.

Not an attorney or judge (using a vacuum pump), but seems like the recipient would need to be age qualified. A number of ways to get to that. The submission of a credit card witch may not be popular with the recipient or an age verification service such as offered by Lawrence Walters the attorney for Chris Wilson.

Like pussylover said, you've got the age verification issue, but regarding the military, you've got another issue if they are stationed in a country in which porn is completely illegal. They can't view it online and they can not receive it in the mail.
