yet another mobile porn story
I was in a martini bar the other night having a drink and two well dressed men
approach the bar. One is obviosley proud of his new cell phone which appeared to be a Motorola Q or Treo. He proceeded to show the bartender (who was very hot and about 25) his new phone and and the porn he had on it. It quickly became the entertainment at the bar and she showed the phone to another girl who was sitting at the bar the video. The look on her face was priceless. All i could say to my self was what the fuck and how this guy was a complete idiot for passing around porn in a public place while consuming alchohol never the less. Then i started to think about the impact of this whole mobile porn attraction and how it is going to play out. Should make for some interesting stories at least and another stab at the industry because people dont use thier heads regardless of the technology that delivers. NBA player who got drunk and was driving and masterburtating to a DVD in his Escalade. wcco.com/topstories/local_story_180133016.html |

Yea, there's money to be made in mobile porn, but it's a pain in the ass.
1. Developing anything for a handset sucks - for images, you need multiple dimensions for each handset, for video you need multiple dimensions plus multiple codecs and then must sniff the handset and deliver the right formatted content for it. 2. WAP sites aren't terribly hard to build as long as you keep them simple. However, it's really difficult coming from an internet perspective of building a website and trying to dumb everything down for wireless handsets. 3. After the carrier and the SMS aggregator take their cut from a premium rate SMS message, you're left with a small percentage of the profit. 4. The differences between carriers and handsets is mind boggling. Verizon customers are pretty much fucked out of anything you have to offer (unless you somehow manage to get on their deck). The motorola V160asds can report different handset capabilities than the motorola V160zksd, for example. But again, there is money to be made. |
