Bad move, giving members new porn every day.

The bastards keep coming back to look at it. I suppose they will all be staying on to see what's coming next month as well.

Maybe I should move to a one update a month and get rid of them and spend more efforts on getting affiliates.

nor do i!

Paul Markham 06-30-2006 04:45 AM

Maybe it would be better to give affiliates new content every day so they can put up fressh free content all the time. Interesting idea.

xclusive 06-30-2006 04:50 AM

every 3 days would be more than enough.

MarkAF 06-30-2006 04:53 AM

or make a tgp proggie that can automatically update when new galleries becomes available ;)

2HousePlague 06-30-2006 05:04 AM

Must agree, Paul.

I think a lot of your marketing sense comes from remembering what it was like to be a consumer of porn. I certainly try to remember what it was like. One thing that does stick out in my mind is the sense of being a "collector" of porn. I remember spending whole afternoons trying to track down a specific model, in a specific scene. Or maybe you had a very clear picture in your head, and were looking for the best match - :)

In both cases, when you find it, there is a special feeling of gratification that makes you want to SAVE something, after you have initially enjoyed it. You want to collect it. Now, of course many collectors satisfy their needs among the oceans of free porn. These oceans are of course fed by yesterday's content. Things go stale, they become less "precious" and the distribution deals that are made resemble Guba -- :1orglaugh

So, if you are giving your paying customer fresh content at a very frequent rate, you are necessarily cheapening the value of whatever is withing the "member's area" at any given moment.

I wonder what the effects would be of preserving a specific, defined collection of material, striclty within the confines of a pay site, wrapped in a presentation "envelope" that does not allow for downlaod, but DOES allow for SATISFYING "collection building" on the site.

Yeah once a week at most

AdultSearchGURU 06-30-2006 05:33 AM

Its a double edged sword. There is so much content out on the net. Free content is so readily available most porn surfers can go from one free site to another to get their kicks with out touching their wallet.

Indeed.

But I think your point sailed right over the head of at least a couple people in this thread. :1orglaugh

Don't give them a damn thing, find out where they live, beat them and rob them. That'll learn 'em for being porn loving freaks.

The good thing for us is many people think like an affiliate and put the affiliate first plus think if it ain't exclusive it ain't going to work. So they all go down the same route and all look the same.

For the weekend we put up 3 videos a day to see how it would work, http://www.paulmarkhamteens.com/tour/updates.php not saying you can tell from 12 hours but sign ups were good last night.

From a financial POV it makes total sense. We always said we would put up 10 to 12 pieces a week from our own production, this is the "Exclusive and Themed" section. So by doubling that with new non exclusive content, we are running at a cost of $200/$250 a week more. That's chicken feed. Think of getting 20 more sign ups or re billers a week and it's nothing. Think of keeping one good affiliate sending traffic and it's money well spent.

Look at some of the threads on this board. Companies spending $1,000s to get new affiliates. What do they achieve in terms of KEEPING those affiliates? I'm looking at it from a different angle, putting the member first and when that works the affiliate benefits.

You been fucking with my surfers?
