Which SEs are important?

Google yes...
Altavista yes...(well more or less)
AOL.......yes
MSN....?
Lycos....?
AllTheWeb....?

AOL uses domz I think. And I get quit a few AOL hits...

I would think any more your best bet is AltaVista unless you want to pay....

Shit if you got listed in there top 10 you'd have nothing to worry about..... I mean nothing....

With the way most of the other search engines have gone, paid listings... Just how long do you think it will take the
surfers to figure out something is wrong... when the first 2 or 3 page's on Google and almost all of Yahoo take you
to a pay site when they want FREE porn... Or better still to pop up hell or they trap 'em...

i haven't played with ALLTHEWEB much as far as submitting sites go. As a search engine, it's slowly becoming my favorite.

im asking about SEs because of linkpopularity - like how many hits could be expect (very roughly) from seach engine X if my site has a linkpopularity of X.......

say you have a linkpop of 100 on some site could you then expect 1 daily visitor? 10? ...........

There's no answer to that because it simply doesn't work like that on any major SE. MANY factors are taken into account not just link popularity.

After 2 years of fingering googles pussy daily, I found something last night that even makes me wonder more.

I found a site I have in Google that after the last pass, is getting mucho SE traffic because of my optimization, but one weird thing, it has no keywords, this has thrown me off, the formula doesnt make sense ;)

Nonetheless I havent changed a thing.

Title is alot more important to some... like AltaVista...

thats why you never know when they weigh the keywords higher than the actual page text

Well....... I thought I got luckly yesterday but I forgot that the linkpopularity-engines are *broke*. When you search for my_domain.com they also return my_domain.com.ar as a valid result...... oh well.

Good to see there is still alot of Webmasters who know Fuck All about the SEs!!

I personally love google, that's my search engine of choice. The funny thing about google is that most of the surfers on it do not click the ad boxes on the right of the page.

dmoz is also a great open directory which powers many many others and I think will be very prodominant in the next few years.

all the web isnt that important at all.. i always optimize with google in mind, remember, dont try too hard or it wont be done right.
