Definitely a hike this one. Got some shots on my new XPan 2 [woooot]
Daytime shots definitely aren't my thing, but this sheer wow factor of this place hopefully speaks for itself!

Wow Simon those are beautiful, I want a Hasselblad too!!! And I've been to that Buddha many times, quite a walk up those steps but so worth it. :)

This is Lantau peak in Hong Kong, on Lantau island (the island you fly in to)
The Bhudda is the world's largest outdoor bhudda, and despite the fact it's really popular, it's a serene place - espexially if you go for a walk a little away from it.

I've still got my first roll of film in the XPan, but i'm excited to see how it goes. Also so very, very tempted to pick up the 30mm lens for it.. it's stupidly expensive, but lovely and wide :D

I just thought I'd add this, it's amazing the extent humans go to for their religious beliefs.

Indeed. The construction of this place would have been something in itself. The entire statue is bronze cast, over a steel 'skeleton'. Must have taken ages to construct :-\

I shoot on a Canon 1DS, usually a 17-40mm lens.
Heading to Japan next week, it's gonna rock - stay tuned :D

Where in Japan you headed? You will get some amazing shots there, try to get to Kyoto if you can, nowhere else in the world quite as beautiful.
