Senators adopt Web labeling requirement
Web site operators posting sexually explicit information must slap warning labels on their pages or face prison terms of up to 15 years, according to a proposal adopted by a U.S. Senate committee on Tuesday
It says that commercial Web sites must not place "sexually explicit material" on their home pages upon pain of felony prosecution--and, in addition, they must rate "each page or screen of the website that does contain sexually explicit material" with a system to be devised by the Federal Trade Commission. http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-6...=zdfd.newsfeed And WHERE do we put these "rartings" on the home page on each page? Do we submit these rating to somewhere? Let me guess once this is enacted then ISPs will be require to block access to pages with certian ratings. here's the funny part "During a day of debate on a wide-ranging communications bill, the Senate Commerce Committee approved an amendment backed by the Bush administration that proponents claim would help clean up the Internet and protect children online. " yes because we know the 50% of adult websites that are not American will abdie by this law. |
Its getting close to Election time. They need to act like they are protecting the children.
