Can 1 person draw an animated sex toon movie, or do you need a whole team of people?

can 1 person dray it all alone, or are those anime movies usuallydone with a shitload of artists?

I dont know if software is so advanced that 1 person can make a whole toon movie

msan 06-26-2006 11:34 PM

Yep, definitely one person can do it with the help of adobe premiere software. I think someone did 3 minute animation in one month (don't ask I forgot the link and the name). And of course animation is expensive especially since you pay per drawing. And there's like 3 drawings per second. Don't forget the background. But then if there's a team working on it...it will finish quicker.

oh wow, so if I wanted to make my own porn toons then it would take forever. I thought software would speed that along by now.

Software are tools that will make things more efficient and save money. You don't have to buy camersa, animation cells, paints and other equipments...It's up to the animator's pacing (drawing speed) that will make things faster. You can try 3D animation, it's much faster than drawing animation.

tony286 06-27-2006 12:07 AM

I think the more people the faster the production goes each person doing their specialty

Hentaikid 07-08-2006 03:39 PM

3 drawings a second is more of a flipbook than an animation.

Still takes a lot of people. I use 3d and it still takes me time to make even a minute, because of time spent modelling, rendering, etc... and that's without sound effects at all...

Nessloch 07-08-2006 03:40 PM

Its not a 1 man project.

Twisted Dave 07-08-2006 03:41 PM

Which is why it's sooo much easier for people to just shoot people fucking for real! :P

Hows you HentaiKid... I don't often see you around on GFY :D

I believe with the right software suite, 1 person can do it all.

gimo33 07-08-2006 03:50 PM

i think 1 man can do it but it will take him a long time to make a few mins of animation....

notabook 07-08-2006 04:12 PM

One person can do it if they cheat. And by cheat, I mean fucking cheat a lot. What a lot of people do to make faux erotica cartoons is only have a few frames and a lot of sorta cheesy zoom in effects/jiggle effects, etc. It?s not nearly as high quality as you really want but if you are just getting started out its way better than nothing. So while it?s not going to be winning any awards anytime soon, it takes three months of work and shrinks it down to a couple of days.

For real animations, expect at a minimum to hire a Korean animation studio, and expect to pay around $25 an hour. This translates to about 1 second of video. The price per minute of video is around $1500 per minute, or $90,000 per hour of video. You can get them to cut a lot of corners though, especially by using a few ?cheesy? effects now and again, bringing the price to sub $70,000. Still, this is out of range of most people, especially when doing erotic animations.

Anyone here actually study animation?

I actually did :) I have a genuine qualification in classical animation :) Anyways... :)

Twisted Dave 07-08-2006 04:26 PM

Oh, and no... I don't mean courses that teach you 3dsmax or Maya ... I mean, did you study the principals of animation? The raw basics?

I was passionate ... still some passion laying below the surface ... anyways, I went to a Richard Williams animation masterclass and spent some time with him chatting about animation etc, going through my sketchbooks etc (got him to sign them all :P)...

For those that don't know Richard Williams, he's an animation genius. One of a classic era of animators who are genuinely regarded as masters of thier craft. He was most famously the Animation Director on Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and a little known fact is that the intro animation, of Roger running around the kitchen was ENTIRELY animated by Richard Williams alone, with only one animator working with him to do inbetween work.

Anyways... :P

same here...

I find it funny that know one has mentionned the fact that it would be utterly retarded to do it all alone by yourself. It would actually cost less to have a team of people working on it than to do it by yourself.

And 3 images per second? last time I checked most video was at 24 to 30 frames per second and even the choppiest of animations are at 10-15 fps.

3 per second would be shit unless you have a morphing program that automatically extrapolates the in between frames of a sequence (such a program does exist, because I do have one :) ).

And to answer the first question : yes, it is possible, but it is inpractical, not cost effective and overall, would be a waste of time.

Twisted Dave 07-08-2006 04:31 PM

I wasn't sure I could be bothered to say what you just said ... but yes, entirely true. Where'd you study?

Hands on experience from guys in my town, a kickass 3d animator and a shitload of books.

I don't have a degree per-say, but I could easily teach a thing or 2 to most people through my experience

Twisted Dave 07-08-2006 04:41 PM

Cool ...

I studied a two year course at Glamorgan Center for Art and Design Technology in Treforest in Wales, UK. I studied under Chris Webster, an INCREDIBLE animator. He was HARSH and would near beat the techniques into you ... form & movement. Action, and re-action... etc. Man, if you did something shit, he'd rip it up and make you do it again. FUCKING good tutor.

Made some guys amazing animators. Many of my friends went on to work in studios around the world including Disney, Pixar, PDI Dreamworks, and games studios such as Rare and Factor 5 etc ...

I didn't. LOL.... I decided to run my own business :P Although I did do the games industry for a bit and still do freelance in games ... :P Working on a famous street racing game by EA at the mo :P
