van basten = worst coach ever

when he first became coach, i already said to everyone that he just aint a coach and he wont reach shit (i was actually surprised they went thru qualification) . He was training kids of ajax and instantly went coach of a country after that.

Van basten only has dickriders in the press, when he does something nobody questions it or asks the real thoughts behind his decision. When someone does, he doesnt answer it seriously. Reason? Because he doesnt know why, because he does everything Cruyff says. Hes the puppet of cruyff - in the most literal way possible.

I can see tomorrows papers, blaming the referee and everything else, except van basten. But the facts are that van basten left van Nistelrooij out of tonights game, substitutes average to good players instead of the bad ones like Robben and Kuit, and worst of all...... Never puts van Nistelrooij in. No, instead he puts lazy fat kid van der vaart in, and (another) worst of all - Vennegoor! What the fuck!

Van basten (read: Cruijff) single handedly destroyed the game. Not the referee, not the players. Yes there were some bad ones, but the coach decides who he substitutes and who is gonna play from the start. And he only made the wrong decisions, from the start.

I was convinced holland would defeat portugal, because i thought even van basten (read: Cruijff) wont make such bad decisions as he did tonight. I seriously didnt expect his way of dealing with this match.

But like i said, i bet nobody will talk about the huge failure van basten caused and blame it all on the referee. If anyone disagrees with this: You havent followed hollands preparation for, and play at, this world cup at all or you dont have any football knowledge. Had to get this off my chest....

oh we're talking soccer...

hova 06-25-2006 04:51 PM

you have some good points, but when he made the choice to play Kuijt in stead of van Nistelrooij he simply couldn't subsite Kuijt for van Nistelrooij. And Vennegoor was just a logical move, he is the better then van Nistelrooij in these situations.

andrej_NDC 06-25-2006 04:52 PM

Only bad players are good coaches.

Paparazzi 06-25-2006 04:54 PM

yeah fucking idiot that did not use van Nistelrooij in the match... :(

polish_aristocrat 06-25-2006 04:58 PM

yo in case ya missed it, i accepted your bet :winkwink:

Violetta 06-25-2006 05:12 PM

Oh it is SO easy to be the wise man AFTER the match! If the netherlands had won 3-0 noone would have said shit. R v Nistelrooy sucked against argentina. There where 15 yellow cards today. Blaming all this on the coach, is not fair.

bullshit, not every great player will be a good coach but there are a few that are good at both (cruijff for example, he was on of the best in both)

i disagree, he already made the first mistake of bringing vennegoor with him, and he could easily sub the very bad playing Robben for Nistelrooij and let kuijt play on robbens position..... nistelrooij is the only real goalgetter in the entire selection and v basten doesnt let him play in this important match...

mOrrI 06-27-2006 08:04 AM

Orange juice anyone?

Gunni 06-27-2006 08:08 AM

Nistelrooij aparently has attitude problems, got offended when he learned he wasn't going to play and didn't put in any effort in training. Funnily enough that is exactly what got him in trouble at Man U....

HpicAnn 06-27-2006 08:16 AM

Nistelrooij on the bench .... van basten = worst coach ever yes I agree.

what did he think :):pimp

The Demon 06-27-2006 08:30 AM

I've already said it. He is so fired for not putting in Van Nistelrooy in the game. That is one of the worst coaching moves I have ever seen, say goodbye to him.

I didnt say all...Lets pick 50 good coaches who were players before. How many were good players? Not more than 5, even that is too high.

kmanrox 06-29-2006 04:50 AM

you guys are just lookin for an excuse... i'll help you out... you dont need an excuse... football is very much a game of chance.. yes, your team's skill means alot... but on any given day, it takes but 1 or 2 bad ref calls, or 1 or 2 strikers to connect... and its a whole new result...

they're talking about axing spains coach now too... what? they lost a game, so now the coach sucks?? gimme a break... its just the King killing the messenger the way I see it... i could be wrong tho

scottybuzz 06-29-2006 05:11 AM

erm... wtf?! group of death? do you remember that? holland got through convinsingly

v4 media 06-29-2006 06:07 AM

You were unlucky. should have had a penalty or two.
Portugal under Scolari are a difficult team to beat.

If Van Basten goes.. who next?

buldog 06-29-2006 06:27 AM

Not having 'Van the Man' play in this important match was a BIG mistake :disgust

MOxxx 06-29-2006 07:40 AM

Mah.....if he is the worst coach i don't know....but one thing is for sure..Holland doesn't have class players anymore...with that team he did what he could..let's be honest.

Marco is GOD..you don't discuss GOD

WAS god. He was a good player, but is a very poor coach.

another thing, i was watching some football shows a day or two ago after the huge failure of holland at the world cup, and there was the boss of the dutch football league (KNVB), mr. Kessler.

Apparently he was so impressed with (one of the?) fastest eliminations of holland on a WC in the history of football, that he extended v. bastens contract from 2008 to 2010. Uhm... say what???

Also, he said that he is content with how it went (wtf) and that the WC was used as a learning process for v. basten.

Using the world cup, the biggest and most important tournament in the world, as a fucking learning experience??? We got amateur competitions for that, then national competetions, then international competitions and THEN global tournaments. Jesus christ.

Plus one of the worst things of the show it was on was that the host said he could understand it, and they werent even one bit critical....

KNVB, thank you for using worlds biggest sport event as a testground for a disastrous coach, thank you for prematurely destroying the huge business that was made from the WC and thanks for knowing from the start that all the 16 million dutch people were hoping for nothing.
