Paysite hosting

Okay so my overhead is basically zilch except for VISA processing fee for my paysite/affiliate program.

I make my own content and have more than enough to promote.

Next fee is in regard to hosting.

I have a great host for my small stuff but this is something bigger planned. Which hosting company has the best deal? I'm reading how I'll need a virtual co-located host.

It's always been that way. For ten years now. Now I'm going to expand. I tried an affiliate program a few years ago and it worked wonders but the company doing processing went south so I put it on the shelf til now.

Greg, this is for a paysite, right? A lot of first time paysite owners make a huge mistake that you really need to avoid. And thats going the cheap way out. The speed and reliability of your paysite is essential to your members, if they can't access your site whenever they want to, why should they stay a member?

Go with a quality host that specializes in support and knows how to handle paysites. You don't want to be switching hosting in 3 months because the host you choose is incompetent. Moving free sites from one host to another isn't too difficult, moving paysites is a completely different ball game. Its much more difficult and involves several different companies, including your processing.

Anyway, you want a dedicated server, definitely. I also strongly urge you to have a back-up service as well as a RAID setup. This is basically like insurance, if your hard drive takes a poop (which can and does happen) you can feel pretty confident that your host will have you back online with very little to no effort on your part.

Doing things right may cost a little more, but its well worth saving yourself the hassle. I can't tell you how many paysite owners have told me "man, I wish I would have done this 6 months ago instead." The catch is they oversell, don't specialize in adult, and offer sub-par service. Do NOT run an important site, like a paysite, on a discount host.

Sly, I hear ya. I'm not about to rush in where wise webmasters fear to tread. You pay good money for good service and that's the bottom line. I'll hit you up by ICQ to chat!

I need the type of host who can be there as this site I'm working on is like having my phone on 24/7. I'll literally be drawing cartoons and animation every waking moment and uploading them, changing them. On my site now I spend more time off site time drawing stuff for customers and critiquing their art and going on art tours etc. that I have to restrict it more to the website instead and if I'm going to do that along with live video again I need a host who can do what's necessary. I have a reliable host now but don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. My new site is just a larger expansion of my main site now but more of a clubhouse live for cartoonists, wannabes, and just fans so customer service is a must. I go all out for fans who've emailed me over the years. I use Cyber Age as it's convenient and I promised CA Dave a long time ago that I would make sure our fans would be satisfied. Why we even have art/cartoon meetings right in my neighborhood! Your customers deserve the best.
