Fucking crap HSPComplete!! So what's the best server control panel??
I really don't like control panels other than for things like rebooting the server, adding mail aliases etc. Part of the problem I suppose is that I don't find them very user friendly. They're typically written by programmers that probably don't even have any websites.
But the one I have on one server is the worst piece of shit I've ever used. Not only is it dog slow, but it fucks up the server configuration. I don't know how many times I've had to go back and re-edit things. Today the fucking thing deleted all my custom rewrite rules when I made a change somewhere else in the config. 10 domains that I didn't realize were fucked up until I checked later. The software? HSPComplete from SWSoft.com So thats going to be added to my list of "don't want from a hosting company" whenever I go out to buy some new servers. So what is the best? Fast (i.e. for editing dozens of domains efficiently) and 99.99% bug free. |
learn vi and quit using that shit
|
yeah yeah yeah... I already know how to use vi and pico. On one server I don't have a control panel and edit the config manually... but this particular host has the control panel.

There are only 2 contenders: directadmin or cpanel.
The rest can wash off the earth in a flood unmissed. |

bash and vi do it all and work like a dream

cpanel, hands down... that is if you can get it to work right

Direct Admin is great
|
cpanel & direct admin I find good choices
for my own sites I prefer cpanel, more powerful |

And if they're really too lazy to learn vi, they could use pico.:) |
HSP sucks donkey I agree. Doesnt matter how much ram youhahaha180;ve got, the crap is ass slow anyway. Directadmin works best for me. Best of the free CPs are webmin and ispcomplete (although a tad to advanced for me).
