Investigators claim men conspired to attack Sears Tower, federal building

MIAMI - The FBI has arrested seven men here as part of an ongoing anti-terrorism operation, federal law-enforcement sources tell NBC News.

FBI agents swarmed over a warehouse in Miami's Liberty City area, using a blowtorch to take off its metal door. Neighbors said the suspects said they were Muslim and had tried to recruit young people to join their group, which seemed militaristic.

The men ? part of a radical Black Muslim group ? were planning terror acts in Miami and Chicago, officials say. The planned targets were the Sears Tower in Chicago and a federal building in Miami.



UPDATE 2-FBI arrests seven in terrorism plot -

MIAMI, June 22 (Reuters) - The FBI arrested seven people in the past two days suspected of planning attacks on FBI offices and a federal building in Miami and the Sears Tower in Chicago, a law enforcement source said on Thursday.

The source, elaborating on a statement on the operation from Florida authorities, said the suspects had thought they were dealing with the international al Qaeda group but had been infiltrated by a U.S. government informant.

If you were around in the 70's and 80's Europe used to get more terrorist bombings in a year than we have gotten in 230 years. There always some plane getting hijacked or some airport or dance club being bombed. This shit aint new. Bush may be an idiot, but I believe he and his ilk (republicans AND democrats) realize perfectly well how our freedoms are being taken away.

One more major terror attack, if it's bad enough, and Bush can do pretty much whatever the hell he wants, in the name of keeping us "safe" from the "bad guys". Police state... Delayed elections (indefinitely)... Whatever he wants, and most people will be, "Please, sir, may we have some more?" As long as he promises to keep them "safe".
