With all the defense statements in the press claiming there is a lack of evidence a smart DA would drop the case if this was true.
So either the DA(Nifong) is fucking stupid or he's got a bombshell.

If I give Nifong the benefit of the dout that he's not stupid then I can only think of one thing he could have.

So I'm betting that Nifong has an eye witness. A player that was there that is "rolling-over" on the other players. Nifong is holding back on this because the player would be in bad social standing at the school if his identity was known. The case may not get to actual trial for another 18-24 months thus giving the eye wittness time to finish school or transfer to another school.

Other than that what the fuck could he have?

The case looks like this to me:

-Nifong has an eye wittness
or
-Nifong is a fool
or
-The defense has simply "spun" the evidence

What? Bump.

I voted for fool because with no DNA match for either of the players arrested it looks like another example of a public official using a case to get re-elected.

Actually that's not true. The prosecution claims to have recovered DNA that is "consistant" with one of the boys charged. It was recovered from one of the acrylic fingernails that were broken off the victum and found in a trash can at the sceen.

I don't know what happened but I don't know of many girls that would through away their nails on the floor. Maybe one nail could fall off for no reason, but she lost four fingernails at the sceen. That doesn't look good to me.

PS: What would Nifong have to gain by this prosecution?
Unless the majority of voters in his area are Black, he has alienated all his voter support. Whites in the area hate the guy for pursuing the case.

The fool answer had a nice ring to it...
