Earth Hottest In 2,000 Years

http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science....ap/index.html

Either global warming is true or every 2,000 years we gets real freakin' hot.

Pron Don 06-22-2006 12:43 PM

haha, and some people still dont believe in global warming!

The Truth Hurts 06-22-2006 12:54 PM

notice you skipped the word "likely" from the actual title...

and everything beyond 150 years ago is basically made up.

infecto 06-22-2006 12:58 PM

More ammo for all the sheep who believe in global warming without a doubt.

BoyAlley 06-22-2006 12:59 PM

Congrats on 2,000 YEARS :thumbsup

Overall, the panel agreed that the warming in the last few decades of the 20th century was unprecedented over the last 1,000 years, though relatively warm conditions persisted around the year 1000, followed by a "Little Ice Age" from about 1500 to 1850.

The scientists said they had less confidence in the evidence of temperatures before 1600. But they considered it reliable enough to conclude there were sharp spikes in carbon dioxide and methane, the two major "greenhouse" gases blamed for trapping heat in the atmosphere, beginning in the 20th century, after remaining fairly level for 12,000 years.

Between 1 A.D. and 1850, volcanic eruptions and solar fluctuations were the main causes of changes in greenhouse gas levels. But those temperature changes "were much less pronounced than the warming due to greenhouse gas" levels by pollution since the mid-19th century, it said.
And this gets us to the real debate... The problem isn't that it got warmer... (The earth has been cycling hot/cold for a long time -- Greenland used to have farms, not just ice)
It's whether or not the RATE of change recently has been altered too much by human activity. But some like to deny the existence of the natural cycles... and some like to deny the existence of the recent rapid warming.

So we just end up with shouting instead of rational science. :321GFY

NoHassleSteve 06-22-2006 01:19 PM

Or, it could just be that Jesus only shows up if it gets warm enough. :1orglaugh

Yes, ice core samples are remarkably accurate going back 100s of thousands of years as some say. Best way we have of determining global temperatures and weather patterns of the past.

mikesouth 06-22-2006 09:43 PM

fuck it I dont like cold weather anyhow

tony286 06-22-2006 09:44 PM

The right embraces the creation story as true but global warming is junk science. its so pathetic. lol

stickyfingerz 06-22-2006 09:44 PM

Wtf Yahoo had its article as 400 years earlier, and now its suddenly 2000. LMFAO. I love it.

A. Lets see what instrumentation did they have even 100 years ago.
B. What frequency did they keep records.
C. Does anyone else think that maybe just maybe the millions and millions of square miles of blacktop, and urban sprawl would cause an increase temperatures?
D. Did they realize that the last time they did this it would of been smarter not to have Al Gore announce it in the far north east in the grip of a cold snap?

Fuckin kooks. They had trouble showing 100 years, now they can somehow prove back 2000 years. :uhoh You people actually buy this crap? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :error :error

spunkmaster 06-22-2006 09:46 PM

The earth wobbles and it's rotation around the sun isn't perfect so
from time to time we get closer to the sun and warm up. There's proof of very warm years hundreds and even thousands of years ago long before polution and petro based fuels !

sltr 06-22-2006 09:51 PM

FACT- this thread is is the hottest thread in 4 zillion years!

"clears throat" This was a study done by scientists hand picked by your conservative friends in the senate. They were actually hoping that it would prove that global warming wasn't really happening, but oh oh. Their own scientists said ehhhhhh ya it is warming. It's the warmest it's been in 2000 years.

So you ignorant fuck of a conservative wack job, it had nothing to do with Al Gore.

Here's another good one from today.
You're butt buddy Bush said that gas prices are high because of all the exotic blends of gas for the different states, to keep pollution down. Bzzzzzzzzz wrong again. He had the EPA do a study to prove it.Ooops better fire some EPA employees.

It's kinda hard to say things aren't fucked up right now. If you are saying that then you need to take a look around.

And people think Katrina was coincidence? I foresee Bush will cry like a baby; "give me that Kyoto papers! I'll sign it! I'll sign it!"

Good catch. Thats how democrats use junk science to spread their message.

Fact: Global warming caused by humans is still as scientific as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

exactly :2 cents:

think about it... they say theres a 'hole' in the ozone...wtf? How do you have a 'hole' in a gaseous space? Seems ridiculous to me...

like 'Green Day' said "Dont want to be an American idiot...controlled by the media"

You should have been killed at birth. A hole in the ozone is not what global warming is about. Ozone has nothing to do with it. Good lord you are right about that Green Day song, just look in the mirror.

what are you so angry about? LOL

Your right. The 'ozone hole' was a conspiracy from the 80s-90s. I forgot, my bad.

I get angry when I see that they let ignorant fucks like you vote and breed.

spanky part 2 06-23-2006 08:43 AM

Actually, after re-thinking it. The breeding comment was out of line. I really don't need to worry about you getting laid. The only pussy you will ever see live, is the one when you look in the mirror.

Greg B 06-23-2006 08:45 AM

It really doesn't matter what may have caused the spike in temperatures. We can't afford to make a mistake. It's already so fucked up if we humans are indeed responsible and stopped everything they say we're doing to cause global warming it would take decades for the present heating trend to disperse. Which means we're fucked for at least 30-40 years already. Don't like hurricanes? Get used to em for the next half century.

Yes nevermind logic like millions of miles of blacktop and pavement. :uhoh It must be my fuckin hairspray making it 1 fucking degree hotter than it was 100 years ago. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

So tell me how those millions of miles of blacktop and pavement have added to global warming. I think you are onto something here. You are the next Einstein, because of all the studies and all the scientist that have looked at global warming, you are the first person with this theory.

I wait in anticipation with your theory on this.:thumbsup
