Just watched Jimmy Kimmel Live here in Kentucky and Buckcherry closed the show with the song "Lit Up" and they fucking Censored out the word Cocaine everytime he said it. And then finally just blacked out the band all together and just ran the show credits.

What the fuck is happening to our country?

Our censors over here (Aus) get a little pedantic at times, but they usually err on the side of calling it art and letting it slide. There's a couple of films that have been banned over here as an example (Baise Moi for one), but that said, Janet Jackson's nipple would have caused little more than a collective cringe (and maybe a little mouth-spew) from the at-home audience.

I don't really like to weigh in on religion, as I'm of the opinion that anything that gives a man the will to get out of bed in the morning is OK with me, but goddamn... the slide to the fundamentalist right in American politics / culture is worrying.

Yeah don't I know. I live right in the middle of this bible belt crap. Go to church on Sunday, but on Friday is out at the bar drinking, smoking, doing drugs and fucking around on the spouse.
