Alien Bees are great for just starting out. Great Lights, lots of addons as you grow they can grow. I love my Aliens

For still go with Elinchrom, swiss based company. They have amazing softboxes. Not the cheapest way but it pays off http://www.elinchrom.com/
I ve got Style RX kit and Octa softbox...

Elinchrom are good but make sure you get the ones with FANS in them!

You'll be amazed how many $1000's worth of lights I have killed!
